Because i fear more and more young players will grow reluctant of signing for chelsea knowing they have no chance of making it here, and are just used as a commodity

Don't think that's a realistic issue. If you've got a kid with talent then you want him to train under the best coaches, in the best facilities and our recent success in youth competitions is a huge attraction. For them it's not just about getting into Chelsea's first eleven, which is a stretch, but maximising their potential so that they have a career.

With the new wp rules, I find it very hard to get excited about this, as he would have to break into the brazil squad before coming here, unless he finds some European heritage.

Unless we loan him to a porto or another fairly big european team, he has no chance of getting enough caps for a good few seasons.

I'd be shocked if he played here at all.

Still decent buisness though if we can make a profit on him.

Will probably need a work permit so can see him going to Vitesse for a couple of seasons like Wallace, If he isn't good enough for us then we can sell him he's still young and would fetch a profit, if it works out we'd have a top player on our hands, Win win.

For sure. Transfer fee is apparently €2m and another €3m after 20 games for the first team. That is more than acceptable for the risk. We are essentially doing with our reserves what Liverpool do with their first team - buy players who at very least can be sold at fair value (with a couple of riskier exceptions like Lukaku)

Tim vickery the south american based journalist doesn't think either nathan or Kennedy (who we have also signed) have it for the top level, good European players but not beyond that in his opinion. Both young and a lot can happen. But it does seem to be a case of you get what you pay for out of Brazil.

We havent signed Kennedy yet have we? I thought that was still a rumour

I don't see it like that at all. I'm pretty sure he's been in contact with our brazilians and someone like Piazon. They all know how hard it is to break into one of the best squads in Europe. I know the road from Vitesse to Chelsea haven't been a success so far but it shouldn't be easy. For the club it has been a success I think, moneywise anyway.

I think this is good for Chelsea and Nathan.

I remember Tim Vickery saying great things about Dentinho, and another Brazilian youngster who's name I forget. Also Cesar Delgado. None of them really worked out in Europe.

I like listening to him, but it's a tricky business (even for guys like him) predicting which ones make it and which ones don't when they're still very young.

Exactly, can even say the same about some of our own players like McEachran. They might show huge potential at 16-18 but the real progress is made from 18-22

Kenedy is possibly going to join him at Vitese.

They've got European football this season so it could prove to be an even more worthwhile experience than usual for both of them.
