Set to Sign Nathan

Featured Replies

Nathan Allan de Souza to be precise. 19 years old, Brazilian attacking midfielder currently at Atletico Paranaense. €6 million.

Looks physically like Hazard from the clips I've seen.

Always have to question the ones we get for cut price, when you consider the price that the likes of Neymar, oscar and the lad at PSG (whose name escapes me) it seems that the you get what you pay for. Luzas Piazon case an point. A good, skilfull player but seem’s to lack the qualitys to make it at the top level

Loan bait.

No chance of getting a work permit so will be ferried around Europe for next three years before possibly being sold for a small profit.

Can't get excited for these types of signings because the majority of the time they never pull on a Chelsea.

According to the reports they say that he is highly rated and other clubs were interested in him. We won the race. Seems strange for us to buy and then use him as loan bait. If he was that highly rated then we would intergrate him into tbethe first team.

Im sure the club already know what they are going to do with him Which is probably send him to Vitesse.

You know when they start off with a tame shot being saved, and then replayed three times, it's not going to be a great video.

bet that went down well with the players who have just won the youth equivalent of the Champions League

Doesn't make a blind bit of difference, since none of our yoof players, nor this Nathan chap, will ever get a chance to play regularly in the starting XI.

It's a numbers game. You can't tell who will make that step-up for certain so you take chances on a number of players. This kid is actually older than the likes of Brown, Boga and Musonda and he'll have a different path to the first-team because of his permit issues, but you need that quality and competition in every year of the academy.

From the short clips I've seen, he seems to have nice close control, a burst of pace and even a bit of physicality about him and I much prefer these types of signings to buying players like Willian and Cuadrado.

I thought the same thing - but actually, it got a lot better

I actually feel really strongly about RLC and some of the other youth team lads. I believe especially RLC will go on to become a first team reg

Lol

Exactly my reaction.

Will end up passed about European clubs in the hope to punt him for a few million more.

Most likely this...but it's a win win (win).  Win small we get a few million and a club owes us a favour, win bigger we get a player who goes for quite a few million or a squad player, win massive we get a first-team player.

This is how we beat FFP isn't it?  Our model must make so many teams jealous.   We get so many rolls of those dice.

He's apparently announced he has signed via his social media. The timing interests me. I'm wondering if this is a little psychological trick by Mourinho to try get in Oscars head and squeeze some form out of him before the United and Arsenal match.

I guess we'll wait and see

Very much doubt it.

This guys not even a solid starter at his current club never mind one of the biggest in Europe.

This won't even enter into any of our players minds, it's loan fodder.

Thats the whole point of the signing. Hoping he will turn out not to be another Piazon but if he does no big loss.

Just a waste tbh, i think we should be done buying players and shipping straight back out on loan. Unless we already get rid of quite a few of the no-hoper loanees we have out already that will never make it to our first team
