Brazil without Oscar = Life goes on

Brazil without Neymar = Germany 7-1 Brazil

If you think Oscar is more important than Neymar to Brazil then you are insane.

Mikel has lasted 9 seasons with us and he's absolute tripe. Whenever Oscar gets dropped from the team we don't miss him at all if I'm honest. He's a decent player but he's not a world beater and probably never will be, the guy is a workhorse with occasional glimpses of good technique, but this makes him on the same level as James Milner.

A bit harsh on Oscar but it is the truth nonetheless.

I really don't think it is the truth. Oscar is a lot better than James Milner. Milner struggles to get into the England 1st team, Oscar would walk into that team.

LOL @ "Mikel is absolute tripe." Like I always say, the best way to know whether someone knows football ask the person's opinion regarding Mikel, Muller and Busquets. The persons answer will tell you everything you need to know.

Is that the same league Salah turned up for 6 months and outshone "Berrardi and friends?" No thanks.

I dont know where that quote came from but surely you arent implying Serie A is crap

Id love to hear your perspective on Mikel, Muller and Busquets as well. Please

Mikel isn't crap and Oscar is a good player. Mikel was one of our best in the champions league final. Oscar was clearly significantly injured in 2015 not completing one full league match from the end of January if memory serves correctly and of course sitting out the cola Americana.

To be fair, Mikel was one of our best in the CL final because we spent most of the game on our own half defending for our lives. I guarantee you, if we play every game that way Mikel will look world class all the time. Mourinho keeps him around because Mikel knows his limitations and is smart enough to keep his mouth shut when on the bench and get on with the job when his number is up.

So far it worked very well for him in terms of money and trophies, so as long as he's not pushed through the door, he'll be content with what he's got.

Oscar is a talent, no question about it. His problem is inconsistency. He tends to fade as the season goes on. His constant involvement with the national team prevented him from having a decent rest in the past so now hopefully he'll show what he's capable of. I think this season is very important for his future at the club, he needs to step up.

As for Pedro, still quietly hoping we'll make a bid. Can't believe we're not going after him at that price.

That 7-1 result had more to do with the absence of Thiago Silva than anything to do with Neymar but I get the point about the importance of Neymar for Brazil in comparison with Oscar

He didn't say Oscar was better than Neymar he said Oscar's "been Brazil's best player on a regular basis" which he has because he's often picked up man of the match awards when playing for Brazil.

As for us not missing Oscar when he isn't in the team I couldn't disagree more, our best performances last season were when Oscar played because his link up play and movement with Fabregas, Hazard and Willian was superb at times and allowed those plays the freedom to interchange into central attacking areas and pulled opposition defences open. His passing and finishing technique for some of his goals and assists last year was brilliant as well.

Mikel isn't absolute tripe I agree but I really wish people really would stop referring to the CL final as a reason for him not been. That was one game and it was over 3 years ago now. It's like looking back on a game that Drogba played in superbly years ago when we know now he isn't the same player. I'm not saying Mikel is old now and can't do the job he does but I think he has declined in recent years.

He played well all that season. I remember seeing him in the excellent away game at Spurs spinning around and around as he carried the ball right across the back of the park. But I agree that was three years ago.

He will improve them ten fold.

If he goes there then that squad look like real title challengers.

Hopefully we make our own mark soon rather than just being content with what we had last season.

How does he improve their team ten fold, Mata Di Maria and Depay ( and Fellaini lol) occupy the positions that he can play yes it means they have more depth but it barely adds to their first team not even sure he gets into their first team yes 22mill is a good price for him but that doesn't mean he transform any team that buys him tbh I'm not sure any of the top 4's first teams will be improved by having him in there.

Edit: Maybe I should say other top 4 teams as I know a lot of people on here think he is better than Willian.

Di Maria is being sold to PSG....

Potentially and is Pedro better than Di Maria as I would see that as a downgrade so again how is that a ten fold improvement, yes its better than selling Di Maria and bringing in no one but it doesn't turn Man U into world beaters

It's pretty much done according to several sources.

Di Maria was terrible last season, it looks like one of those Shevchenko situations where a world class player cannot take to English football.

Pedro I think would be a far better outlet for them and would suit their system more than Di Maria did.

Just throwing it out there, if United were offloading Di Maria at a cut price I wonder if Jose would be tempted to sign him?

They worked well together at Madrid and LVG isn't the easiest of coaches to work for.

Just a thought.

I'd imagine wages would be an issue, PSG like United will offer silly money that I'd think were outwith our means.

I thought the same about Falcao but here we are.

Don't underestimate the lure of playing for Jose.

Fair Di Maria did have a bad season and despite all of his assists looked out of his depth in the BPL however Pedro is also unproven against defences that are organised and physically strong. Pedro may well be more suited to the BPL and may well play better than Di Maria but that doesn't sort out Man U's underlying problems, I won't be worried about Man U until they sort out their defense and LVG goes, and signing another midfielder in an already saturated midfield doesn't worry me.

and yeah I don't think Di Maria is an option his overall transfer cost and wages will just be too much especially for a 27 year old I would prefer we signed Pedro then Di maria.

Although Mourinho might like the idea of turning 2 Man U flops into greats again

Did Falcao not take more than half a wage pay cut though?

Not sure Di Maria would do that, especially as there are other clubs like PSG who will pay that wage...Falcao didn't really have many options going by what we heard.

So if you criticize Mikel in anyway, it means you know nothing about football? I hate this stupid argument, it is laughable actually that anyone would use such an argument. Mikel contributed little in our title win, he's essentially dead weight in terms of football. Jose probably doesn't even rate him anymore, he's just keeping him on because Mikel doesn't mind being on the bench and playing a few minutes a week as long as he gets paid -- last season he only made 6 starts in the league. 6 starts, you'd think with those minutes, he was a youth player and not a player that was at the heart of our CL win. Half of those starts also came towards the end of the season. As soon as Matic has come in, it effectively ended any chance Mikel had to continue with Chelsea football club. As of now, Mikel is just taking up a foreign spot, leaving would be the better option for us but there is no club willing to pay his wages so we're pretty much stuck with him.
