Nathan Aké

Featured Replies

Couldn't find a thread about him. Going on loan to Watford it seems.

Nathan Ake has today signed a new five-year contract with Chelsea.

The 20-year-old will continue his development by spending this season on loan in the Premier League at Watford.

The Dutch Under-21 international arrived at Chelsea in July 2011, lifting the FA Youth Cup in his first season before making his first-team debut on Boxing Day 2012 as a substitute away at Norwich City. He also helped us to the Under-21 league title in 2014.

Ake featured five times for the Blues in four competitions last season, while also spending a month on loan at Reading in the Championship.

Good luck to him.

Continued development, good to see.  He's a good player and I hope he gets a shot.  Remember, the club have made a statement in the past that they see 23-24 being the right age to bring players into the team, with exceptions for exceptional players.  So, with that in mind, I think this ties in nicely with the length of contract and timing of his loan.

Here's hoping mate. Would like to see him make it! He seems to have a good attitude about things.

I also very much like that we seem to be making sure our young talents sign contracts before they go on loan will hopefully prevent Lukaku type situations and obviously will bump the players value up if they have a decent season.

Glad to see him loaned to a BPL side and since Watford will have a lot of defending to do over the season, hopefully he will show everyone, in particular Jose what he is capable of. Good luck to him and hopefully he can get some decent game time.

Can't see him getting much game time there, if any at all. They are stacked in all the positions he plays.

Better than a pointless championship loan, I guess.

Well he wasnt going to play here either, so it was a hard decision either way.

I don't really see the fuss about Ake.

Looked better for us than RLC has done.

He's a good player, very calm and composed in possession.

I actually think he is arguably our best prospect.

Nah i prefer Loftus Cheek personally. Aina at fullback always impresses me more than Ake does too.

I don't watch the under 21s so my opinion is based purely on appearances for the senior team.

In competitive matches RLC hasn't yet done something to make me sit up and think he's got something special about him.

Ake has been one of the better players in the team on a few of his appearances.

I watch the U21's, and I have to admit I enjoy watching them as much as the first team.

RLC and Ake are in the crucial part of their careers, they are between the U21's and the first XI in no man's land, along with Bamford, Christensen, Chalobah.......and plenty of others......  Not many (if any) get through no man's land.

But I have to admit I am liking 5 of the players who remain in the U21 squad. I put them in the positions they have played in, and looked best at.

Charly Musonda - Midfield - imo the brightest prospect, plays best in Oscars/Lampards position, loves running with the ball and driving the team forward, extremely skill full, scores goals.

Ola Aina - RB - You saw what he's capable of against Fiorentina, very fast at getting up and down, can cross the ball.

Tammy Abraham - CF - He's a goal scorer that only needs one chance, undoubtedly the best finisher outside the first XI.

Fikayo Tomori - RCB - Very hard to get past Fikayo with the ball, he looks like a great defender.

Kasey Palmer - Midefield - Plays in Hazards position, scores better goals than our Eden does, a banker to be playing for England first team imo.

I think jay da silva and Ola aina have a good chance as there isnt many good full backs around at the moment, and I think it is easier to give a full back opportunities, rather than any other position .
