Imdomt want international break, we have some winnable games coming up darnit

All games are winnable, but I'm sure the teams facing us also see a winnable fixture!!!

I'm just lost for words at present. Lots of things in my head which I feel like posting but it seems pointless and you're just in danger of repeating the same old stuff. I honestly can't see us getting relegated, but then again I couldn't see us being 16th in the table losing 7 out of 12 matches.

Fixtures like Norwich, Bournemouth, Sunderland and Watford at home should all be 3 point bankers, but we are so fragile at the moment and so lacking a cutting edge that I will go into all of those games preying for the win rather than anticipating it.

Hope Jose get's the time to turn it around and the signs are he has a bit of time yet, but if we are still where we are as we head into the Christmas programme who knows? One thing is for certain, Jose won't actually take us down. If relegation is still a real possibility as we get into February, the Board would have to act.

Nibs on the bright side, if we do go down:

Season tickets to become more affordable

Many of our "fans" will re-allocate them selves appropriately

The board will be a much more enjoyable experience...

Always look on the bright side of life... (play tune in head)

Another break to dust ourselves off. The improvements are there, just need to stick a few in the onion bag and it will start to come together.

Against Spurs we only mustered one shot on goal which is bloody poor!....... but since the start of this thread we have only been beaten once more... we've drawn once and won three.

Compare that to October's fixtures where we won only one game, drew two and were beaten three times.

Getting there....

I didn't see the match so don't know but statistics can sometimes not show the whole picture.  "One shot on target" can mean 20 shots an inch wide or it can mean that the ball never got into the opponents half.  I know either way, it means that the goal was not scored.

Two goals conceded in the whole of November; three clean sheets in a row. Considering the utter shambles our defence was at the beginning of the season it's refreshing to see us put in more solid performances at the back, even with injuries to key men like JT and Ivan.

There was one chance where Hazard headed over when someone who is good in the air (and/or a little taller) would probably have scored. Pedro's shot at one point took a deflection and flew just ever so slightly over the bar. With better anticipation and movement Zouma could've had a tap in from a Willian freekick. There probably were others as well...

Sure, the fact is that only Hazard got a shot on target, but I think the chances were better in this match than in some matches this season where we've had more than one shot on target. Shots on target don't necessarily mean dangerous shots or "close ones".

Exactly.   An incredibly weak trickle shot that a 97 year old one legged granny could save can be "on target" whereas a scorcher hitting the bar isn't.  I have been told by my husband that at least a weak shot on target has the chance of going in whereas a strong shot wide hasn't, but I don't think it can be taken as a stronger performance - which is why match statistics need to be analysed and interpreted and added to to get the whole picture.

I keep saying in my head, hold on help is coming! If we get 13 of the 15 points on offer between now and Jan we will be right back in contention for me. But the hierarchy has a part to play now as well. We need a couple of top notch players in Jan for me, not just for the quality but for the boost it will give the team morally and mentally. I keep saying in my head saying in my head, hold on help is coming! We just aren't good enough and we have to be realistic about things. It's all well and good being positive in this difficult situation, but at the same time we're way behind top four, and for the quality in our squad we should be up there. I really can't be happy with our performances of recent and jose is taking us for fools if he thinks we'll just soak up everything he says, especially yesterday and the sh*te about us being the better team. I don't know if he's seriously delusional or what, but it's actually an insult to us fan's intelligence when he comes out with crap like that.

He didn't mean it

Really admire your optimism Zola, I'd just temp it down a bit as like Jose said there is a multitude of different problems that are causing our poor form and they won't go away overnight (much less under a new manager) so It might be a stretch to expect the old Chels straight away.

Great to see an up beat presser and hear JT putting the press to rights but the form we've started off with means baby steps could be the way to recover and there has (although some people have missed it) been signs of improvement.

For me this isn't a new get behind the manager game for the boys as thats where they've always been, it's just another game where we need to stay focused and hope we have a fair share of the luck, if that happens it could be the turning point but as I've said a few times it might involve a step back here and there to go forward...we just have to be behind Jose and the boys in both of those events.

Edit: Great to see a positive thread :good2:

Just quoting myself instead of making a new post as when Zola started this thread these were my feelings, not much changed since then, still playing slightly better football, still one or two players woefully out of form, still not getting a lot of luck with decisions, still looking the better team more often than not but losing out to a lucky goal where one mistake costs us.

Hardly anything since my original post has surprised me or gone different to I expected, baby steps...the defenders have improved, some of our link up play has been better, we now are suffering much more from lack of end product than problems throughout the team, bar Fabregas and Costa most of the players are playing OK.

It's slow but it's coming.
