June 30, 201610 yr I'm watching ITV and they are saying that part of the reason why England keep failing is because the younger players get too much too soon, i don't really believe this, i think it's an easy excuse. England have been failing since we won the world cup in 1966, it's only in recent years that they have been getting too much too soon. So what about all of the other years where we have failed, were they getting too much too soon in the 80's and 90's ? i don't think so. England isn't the only country that rewards youngsters with too much too early these days, this is happening all over the world now. Exactly. Those German/Spanish/Italian young players who come through...seem OK to me.
June 30, 201610 yr were they getting too much too soon in the 80's and 90's ? i don't think so. 86 WC Q final 90 WC semi final 96 EC semi final That 10 year period was pretty dam good, would settle for that all the time.
June 30, 201610 yr 86 WC Q final 90 WC semi final 96 EC semi final That 10 year period was pretty dam good, would settle for that all the time. It was a hell of a struggle for England to get that far in those tournaments though. They got through with more luck than skill.
June 30, 201610 yr Having Lineker and then Shearer helped. All we needed in this tournament (and the last) was a world class striker like those names above who you can rely on to bang in the goals. Rooney although he is England's top scorer has never been a reliable goal scorer at tournaments. If Kane played like he did last season for most parts, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.
June 30, 201610 yr What did he say His analysis of the England team, try and watch it, said footballers are rewarded when not successful, he wanted to play not fame etc. Mentioned using best players, ages, and reluctance to let them go to a summer tournament - I can't do it justice, but interested to know what others think of what he said...

What bollocks. He wasn't interested in the fame? Sure fooled me if he's talking about the Premier League. Perhaps that was true for international tournaments since Wales never qualified, so all he wanted was a chance to play in those tournaments. But I have a feeling he wasn't only referring to international tournaments.
June 30, 201610 yr This game is crap now. Two teams with a priority now of trying not to lose, rather than trying to win.
June 30, 201610 yr Some superb penalties there, unlucky Kuba. Genuinely surprised that Quaresma didn't hit his penalty with the outside of his foot. Edited June 30, 201610 yr by PloKoon13
June 30, 201610 yr Portugal who haven't won a game yet are in the semi finals They won the last 16 game.
June 30, 201610 yr Semi finals with the only non shootout victory in a game where they were outplayed and scored in the 117th minute. Lucky bar stewards. Then again, they were denied a clear penalty in the first half. Semis in 4 of the last 5 Euros. Edited June 30, 201610 yr by offside
June 30, 201610 yr Commentator saying Wales got to be happy with that, I would of thought otherwise myself.
