Rapid Vienna VS Chelsea (Pre-Season) 16/07/2016 KO 17:00 BST

I have said 2 things.

Willian is overweight. Which he is.

And RLC hasnt touched the ball. Which is an exaggeration but he has genuinely been non existent.

Willian has probably jogged (or walked after he got out of breath) to the burger van outside for his half-time snack.

RLC not having much of the ball probably has more to do with how high up the pitch he is playing, and the huge amount of distance between the midfield and the front two. I would say that's more of a tactical issue than a quality one. Presumably Conte wants to drill the players in defensive structure... probably because the score doesn't matter.

We won't be the only club like this on their first pre season game. You'll find that most clubs will be the same.

United seemed pretty good earlier, albeit against an english club with a similar schedule.

I just hope half of the players are not here at the start of the season,

What about the 3 times he's allowed attackers to just wander past him and get a shot away?

They don't exist as they don't show up in the stats.... bar the goal of course that the attacker ran off the back of him or in a similar vein later in the game but fortunately it went wide. Early days though,at least he is getting his chance, he may turn out to be the second coming of Desailly.

Could be the most ridiculous post I have read on here for a while.

There's a long distance between the players, the team can't move the ball fast because the players aren't close to each other. But that's okay, we should work on things like this one in friendly matches.

Ahhhh match day thread how I missed you.

You would think the first game of pre-season would allow us an escape from the unbridled, irrational whingeing which pollutes these threads throughout the season.

Last year it was at least somewhat understandable...

I think Stevie wonder could see Willian is about a stone heavier.

Is he bollocks a stone overweight.

That is the big difference though. Wigan were on their 2nd pre season game against United, Rapid Vienna are on their 6th and their season is just about to start.

I really do get that. But i remember hearing that a hell of a lot last season. Its an easy excuse.

Anyway lets hope for an improvement.
