I saw this too! I was surprised to see even the club captain made no effort. I would have loved to have attended Essien's 30th, better than being a Toure's birthday party if you forget the cake!

Loved him when he was here, shame about his injuries but still think he left/went on loan too early

He was 'that' player back in the day whereby all the other big teams would pick him from our squad if they had one choice. Could fit into multiple roles and dominate. Top quality player and from what I've read, a stand up guy.

Anyone else remember when we first signed him and he was a walking red card lol?

Great strike from Essien. Can't believe it's 10 years ago. My seat is in the second row of the MHU and is level with  the right hand edge of the six yard box. Had a great view of the goal. Goalie had no chance of saving.

One of the best, loved him. Great call on that goal too.

I don't think we would have had Munich had we won it before hand, that along with a serious helping hand from the sky was a group of players driven by all the hurt in the past knowing it was the last chance for them, had they already had big ears in their hands i very much doubt they would have had the same sheer drive to pull it off, the previous hurt was part of the motivation.
