Sure, I'd have him on loan. But Arsenal would have to pay his wages. Then I'd stick him in the reserves or U21s and tell everybody to look at him and understand what happens if you smoke and waste what little talent you might have.

Hopefully he'd act as a deterrent to anybody thinking they are too big for the club or that they can coast...

In the minority but I definitely would. How many players have left Arsenal who are renowned for being injury prone & ended up not getting injured often. Van Persie,  Fabregas etc.

It is just a loan deal, and if it doesn't work out we have no future commitments. I'd rather him than go for a last minute £20m+ midfielder from Serie A.

Arsenal would never sell him to us so we would just be doing them a favour by playing him and getting him fit.
