November 24, 20169 yr Not seen a topic about him since his retirement. Doesn't seem that long ago that we were on the cusp of signing Gerrard and having a midfield 3 of Lampard, Gerrard and Maka. IMO, as Mourinho stated at the time, these two playing with each other every week in a dedicated formation (not the random chopping and changing they put up with, with England) would of gelled very well and with Maka behind them would of been lethal. It wasn't to be however and Gerrard decided to stay at Liverpool for the love of the club, or threats from scouse gangsters depending on what you choose to believe. What do you geezers think? Reckon we would of gone on to dominate Europe with his inclusion? Or would it have never worked and ended up being an expensive mistake? Personally I think we would of owned the prem for a few years and Gerrard would have finally claimed that league title that eluded him.
November 24, 20169 yr Being covered in following rivals forum...but as for your question, I think we had a narrow escape...him and lamps couldn't play together...it was shown time and time again for England...so we would have had the problem too and lamps' incredible goal-scoring feats would have been dented in the process

England kept trying to shoehorn Lampard/Gerrard into a 4-4-2 formation with neither suited to playing the holding role or with Gerrard shunted out wide on the left. Mourinho wanted to play them in a 4-3-3 which would have had Makalele or Essien sitting as the midfield anchor. In that system you could potentially have got the best out of both players.

Stevie me would still have been getting in frank's way...frank was a team player at cfc, he knew he was one of many good players...cos Stevie me kept being told he was the main man at Liverpool, he always tried to do everything on his own...his display after that 'slip' against us was one of the most selfish I have ever seen...spent the rest of the game trying to make amends for himself with stupid shots from range and long passes, rather than putting the team first and looking for a teammate in a decent position...and he did that on many occasions for club and country...never saw frank play like that... December 4, 20169 yr Yes. Admin please add the words 'Scouse c**t' After the title and lock the thread.
December 5, 20169 yr I don't think we really needed a midfielder who specialised in 50 yard hero cross field passes that rarely found their target, beating up DJs, diving in Champions League finals and slipping over.

December 6, 20169 yr The only memorable part of his legacy is how he's somehow managed to shoehorn himself into being constantly compared with Lampard.
December 6, 20169 yr The media w**kfest over that w**ker is cringeworthy. He's not fit to clean Lampards boots.
December 6, 20169 yr Great player, but might as well have retired a decade earlier for all he achieved.

Not to mention those horrendous back passes he regularly played back to the goalkeeper that got intercepted for club and country....Tosser!
