That's a harsh red card for the US player. Messi did basically the same thing and wasn't sent off.

neither a red for me. Messi’s had intention but not intensity; this one had intensity, but not intention.

Brazilian refs over-officiate all the time and it’s a big criticism even within Brazil. Klaus is not one of the few good refs in the league.

Next up, Spain vs Austria, Switzerland vs Algeria, and perhaps the pick of tomorrow’s games, Portugal vs Croatia.

Trying to recall how many players we still have involved - James, Trev, Enzo, Neto, Gusto, Barco (?)

Not likely to get any minutes but Mike Penders is still out there with Belgium !

Hopefully we'll be able to claim Lacroix soon as well LOL

10 of the 16 R32 games done, and so far the better ranked team has prevailed in 9 of the 10 games, with the solitary "upset" being the Germans.

If that holds for the remaining 6 games, then Argentina, Spain, Portugal, Columbia, Switzerland and Egypt will take their places in the last 16.

Mexico have never lost in the world cup at that stadium, the Azteca and havent lost a competitive game at home since 2013 but we were also told England after conceding first hadnt won a world cup match since 1966 v West Germany. So we just need another record put to bed on Monday.

The altitude will be a big problem id like to see Tuchel play with changes at half time, say Rodgers first half and Bellingham second half. and maybe Rice and ( i dont believe im saying this ) Henderson second half. If we resort to a slow build up, walking pace football i think we will be undone by the Mexicans.

oh and we could do with Pickford sorting out his poppadom hands.

Red card for USA - Balogun see's red. He will miss the next game against Belgium (if they get there). Very harsh red imho

the only thing that was harsh is that it happened to a home nation. watch the replay the other fellas leg was bent out of shape.

To each their own. Hydration breaks aside, and not intended to be inflammatory at all, the only place I see any negativity / cynicism to the World Cup is this forum. Happened with club World Cup also.

Sorry but thats not even close to being true, go on any club forum or general football forum and theres the same cynicism and complaints.

Are people taking the piss about the red card, its blatantly a red, you cant just stamp on someones achilles like that.

Did you watch the game? In the context of the game it was imho just two blokes contesting for the ball and it was not malicious or anything like that. Football is a contact sport. In slow motion it looks much MUCH worse - the lad got up and played the rest of the game - there was no pushing and shoving between the players, etc. I would say it was harsh - it wasn't reckless - it was two blokes fighting for the ball and this happens. IF i only ever saw the slow motion then it is red, otherwise i would say it was harsh.

The 'home nation' played with enthusiasm - or one of the home nations in fact - it was a good game of football.

Wow Belgium got out of jail and Lukaku was a big part of that surprisingly.

Senegal must feel bad they should have won this.

Belgium might yet beat the USA too.

Belgium got super lucky - they were awful for most of the game.

It doesnt need to be malicious, its a nasty foul whether intentional or accidental and is a deserved red card. It can cause huge damage to a player.

Yup. It’s a bad deal any way you look at it.

Now some players are more or less affected by it and it’s hard to know beforehand. 2km high is high but not La Paz high, so hopefully it’s a somewhat fair match. Would very much like to see Brazil x England in Miami. Mexico at sea level would be easier for Brazil, but I like the game more. I think Brazil will beat Norway, but evidently no guarantees.

Altitude - I think it is a very interesting problem because as you say there is no way of knowing which players will be more effected by the issue. It is a pre-made excuse for England and well we all know that the English National Team just love their excuses. Because even if England win then they can then claim fatigue and injuries for the next game.

Do England fly in the day of the game? Is that our plan? Fly in and out the day of the game.

Attitude - Mexico city is a great place. I am tempted to fly down for the game. Wild place and lots of fun. And the Azteca will be intense. The noise and atmosphere will be amazing. Hopefully the England players can hold it together.

I can confirm with 100% accuracy that Noni Madueke is acutely negatively affected by altitude and therefore should not be in the matchday squad. As a precaution.

Watching Pedro Neto for an entire season led me to hating modern wingers… 3 games of Noni at this World Cup is just too much though.

What a lazy, arrogant, talentless c**t he really is.

Best business BlueCo ever did was shipping him out. Not a single redeemable feature.
