f**k me, it would be one of the greatest signings we can ever make if we get him, but surely the chances of actually getting him are so slim

Never going to happen unfortunatly.

Yeah it's the daily star...

Bayern are not going to sell one of their best players in their best years, no chance of this.

Sadly I agree with both of you - he's exactly the type of inverted wing back I'd hope we'd sign this summer. Hopefully we can find someone just like him. I'll be amazed if we sign Alaba.

This would be a statement of intent, but the probability of this happening is simply 0.

He would be an incredible signing, he is someone worth spending BIG on, having the option to play him LCB, LWB or CM makes it even more appealing, but obviously he is one of those players who would be extremely difficult to sign.

Alaba played in the Bayern Munich youth team and was their youngest debutant ever in a competitve match.  Basically, he rose through the ranks and became one of Munich's best players.  The emotional ties and legacy is firmly entrenched in the Allianz Arena.  Naturally, he would be Conte's dream signing as he is top class in several positions and not just a left-back which provides quality and versatility.

The dumbest transfer story I have ever come across this season.

There are a few to choose from, but I agree. This pretty much tops the pops.

I think it's a realistic target, Conte is trying to make us a top club in Europe. With a good offer, we can buy him, Bayern will find a replacement.

I don't know why, but I'm optimistic with these rumours. I just remember the moment that Bayern sold Toni Kroos to Real Madrid for 25m!

Everything can happen.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: "I can guarantee that David Alaba will never be on the market. We value him very, very highly"

Asked about the reports (linking Alaba with Man City) while appearing on Sky Sports in Germany, Rummenigge said: "These rumours are not correct.
"He recently extended his contract with us until 2021. All the big European clubs know what that means with Bayern.
"That is to say that we are completely relaxed about his situation. This is not an issue for us."

Well, we don't know Alaba's feelings, maybe he's looking for a new competition, I don't know.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm feeling a little bit optimistic with this rumour.

Top class in several positions? What are you on about? He's mediocre at best central mid

In terms of the fixed CM position I agree Alaba is mediocre, in a specific tactical system however it's a myth that you always need a top class CM (i.e. Man City's unbeaten run at the start of the season coincided with both full backs moving into central positions). Unlike Alonso Alaba is comfortable drifting into central positions (to exploit space and create overload situations further up the pitch).

Giving yourself false hope is what you're doing. I'll bet you £10000 it's never going to happen. Move on.

Obviously you never watched him playing fro Austria in central midfield.

The only way we are ever going to get Alaba if they decide to cash in or he decides he wants a new challenge. Apart from that this seems unlikely... maybe we try for that Raphael Guerreiro  and get him to convince Sanches to come with him?

Sanches will be looking for a club soon enough but it won't be Chelsea.
