He is a decent outlet on the left hand. Needs to concentrate more on the defensive side and i think he could be really good. As a team though we could be using the wings a bit more to stretch teams and open up space in the middle. Needs to concentrate more and create a few crosses. I like his attitude too.

Why can't we just be happy that we've got two good fullbacks? I definitely want to see Palmieri play more, I don't think he was good against Fulham but he hasn't had the necessary game time to showcase his attributes just yet.

I get your point, but are they “good fullbacks” though? Ever since the goals dried up for Alonso & the formation change, he has been exposed as an average fullback. 

I don’t think either one is good enough,  ideally we move one in the summer and upgrade the position.

Alonso and the team were pretty good two months into the season. 

If the system doesn't work the players will not look good.

Alonso is a brilliant wing-back but an average full back capable of a few brilliant games from that position.

Emerson seems like he’d be much the same but it’s hard to pass judgment on a player who’s barely had a run of games.

I mean people are getting on me about the semantics but they should know what I mean, the two players we have in the back left are Alonso and Palmieri. Palmieri was pretty offensive for Roma, I'm not sure if he's more suited to the fullback role than Alonso is just yet, we haven't seen enough games and that's mostly on Sarri for not rotating enough. 

I'm just not that eager for one player to do well so I can sh*t on the other. I would rather both players do well, which they're both capable of.

Go and have a look, I've never just put snide comments saying "he's sh*t" 

I've always said he wasn't good enough and should never have got the game time that he has gotten. What's laughable is you comparing him to Alonso who has been much better than Bakayoko, like that's even a valid comparison. You point out the Tottenham game where Bakayoko supposedly had a great game in, the same game where Alonso scored our only two goals in the match and won us the game, player bias once again. 

And why is it colorful language when you say one person is sh*t and I say one is poor but you'll go straight to arguing semantics when I call Alonso a fullback ?

Not really sure where i've compared Bakayoko and Alonso, bud. Having said that though, Alonso this season has been as poor, and as much of a liability as Bakayoko was, at times (City game).

I simply stated a fact that we have a good full back and a good wingback. It'd be like saying we have two good regista's with Jorginho and Kante. Simply needed correcting.

You're comparing them when you keep bringing him up.

Bakayoko was dreadful for us, Alonso hasn't, even if he was to go tomorrow we would remember all the good performances and important goals that he gave us. Why you keep equating my criticism of Bakayoko, which wasn't anywhere near as childish as yours to your criticism, I say criticism against Alonso I have no idea, it's just desperation from your end.

He has been dogsh*t for 90% of this season. Dogsh*t is probably kind some games. Doesn't mean i hate him though. Probably a lovely bloke.

You're not wrong.  But I will say, Alonso is definitely not a lovely bloke when he's behind the wheel of a car.

Picked a great time to have an exceptional game, hope this is a sign of things to come. 

Started the game so poorly last night and gave away the ball easily and wasn't making the overlaps. 

After about 25 mins he settled and looked like prime Cole. Overlapped well, took on his man and got an assist. Couple of well worked shots in there too.

More than happy going into next season with him as our first choice LB. Still only 24 years old too.

If we can fleece one of the Madrid clubs for £30-40m for Alonso i'll be overjoyed. I'm sure James/Azpi can play backup when needed. 

Apart from some defensive lapses he was brilliant. Fear to think what would’ve happened if Alonso played instead 

He was excellent, started the game with few errors, especially in his defending ability. But the second half was just incredible, his touch on his assist to Giroud is a joy to watch.

I would like to keep Alonso but it's just annoying how we don't seem to rotate enough with our fullbacks, Emerson was never playing at all and it was just Alonso, Alonso, Alonso twice a week even when he was out of form. If we played them both as much as each other I have no issues with it.
