February 6, 20188 yr The topic of a Winter Break is once again in the headlines, many current Premier League managers such as Pep are very much in favour of it however some aren't, including the likes of Wenger. Germany has a Winter Break, Southgate has said in recent interviews that a Winter Break could help the National Team improve, while also freeing up the January schedule. But I don't know about you but I'm a greedy so and so, I barely survive the summer without my Premier League action and I hate international breaks but if it'll benefit the squad and or the national team, I'm all for it. What about you guys?
February 6, 20188 yr Yes. For English fans, it's a tradition to have holiday fixtures, so I guess the best time to implement it, will be in Janaury. Though, it can be a disadvantage for teams playing in Europe, to not have competitive games a month, just before the CL knockout fixtures. Edited February 6, 20188 yr by Ledgerson
February 6, 20188 yr Couldn't care less about the national team and the Christmas period is the most exciting period of English football. For me, it stays.
February 6, 20188 yr Firstly take away FA Cup replays and two legs in the league cup semi final and that will help. I don't care about the national team, the biggest competition England ever face leading to a major comp is Slovakia or Slovenia, qualifying has become a joke.
February 6, 20188 yr Call me cynical but when the likes of Bayern, Barcelona and Real Madrid use their winter breaks to do lucrative 'training camps' in the Middle East and Asia, it's hard to believe that Guardiola and co's opinions are based on player welfare. To make a real difference to player welfare and the standard of football it would be as simple as restructuring the international breaks, but FIFA will not have that conversation.
February 6, 20188 yr no, get on with it, they get half the summer off every year, and every other year they get the whole summer off.
February 6, 20188 yr Well 95% get the whole summer off each year, since not many make their national team (and those that do make it and their team does not qualify)and have to play more matches for whatever tournament there is in the summer.

Exactly. This question only comes up now we have a league full of foreign managers, who all want less work and more money. All under the guise of 'player welfare'
February 6, 20188 yr f**k knows what will happen when the Qatar world cup comes along, a November to December world cup. It's not going to just effect that season but the season after. Fifa come up with some sh*t ideas but that tops it all, money talks of course.

February 6, 20188 yr Very hard to implement with the British weather. If there was a winter break say mid January for a couple of weeks and then we get a cold snap in February and games get called off it will lead to fixture congestion.
February 6, 20188 yr Players need a winter break? us fans do after watching that shower of sh*t for the last few weeks!!!!!

In still waiting for my 67p pay rise you were suppose to be negotiating. Some agent you are! As I said in another thread. Do it in January and it’s fine. Otherwise at Christmas we’ll have to spend time with our families... No fa cup replays, league cup semis one leg at a neutral ground and less games to be played!
February 6, 20188 yr No, because i just don't see the room for it. These managers can't seem to make their minds up. One minute they are complaining about fixture congestion then the next minute they are asking for a winter break. Do they not realise that if they get a winter break, it's going to make fixture congestion even worse? The real issue for me is International Football. In the first 2 or 3 months of the season, it takes up 6 weeks just to get through 4 or 5 international football matches. Why so long? Training 1 full week before a game and then the next week playing 1 or 2 games. That is way more time than is needed. Edited February 6, 20188 yr by Scott Harris
