April 29, 20224 yr Must admit I quite like Sir Jim's style here. The government will look like a right bunch of idiots if they endorse an American bid over a British bid.
April 29, 20224 yr Just now, Scott Harris said: This is what I was thinking. Surely this will be impossible. More and more say it is publicity only and had he been serious he would have been on from the beginning. He certainly has the cash to have been so. Not confirmed officially but by all accounts Todd Boehly has won.

April 29, 20224 yr Jim Ratcliffe bids £4.25bn for Chelsea after the various deadlines. Pagliuca is out. Boehly rumoured to have won talks with Abramovich (unconfirmed), with Broughton possibly also out: From Goal. Sounds like we might have a winner…
April 29, 20224 yr The Boehly bid is still best-positioned to be the preferred bidder. But as of now they have NOT entered into exclusive talks (yet) or been told they are the preferred bidder. Ratcliffe's bid has clearly complicated matters. @benjacobs

Then he needs to take control of the club because, as of right now, the government has no final say on who the club is sold to.
April 29, 20224 yr INEOS also own French club Nice, who could very well finish third in Ligue 1 this season and enter the third #UCL qualifying round. But under UEFA multi-club regs, Chelsea and Nice wouldn't both be able to play in the #UCL in the same season under the same ownership.

April 29, 20224 yr Re owning two football clubs, I came across this on Sky, taken from article entitled: Why Radcliffe has bid | 'I would be excited about this bid if I was a Chelsea supporter' "If he was to buy Chelsea, you couldn't have a situation where Nice and Chelsea were playing in the Champions League, that wouldn't be allowed under UEFA rules. I think one would be able to play in the Champions League and the other wouldn't be able to play any higher than the Europa Conference League.“ So dual ownership maybe not a problem after all.
April 29, 20224 yr Breaking: Los Angeles Dodgers part-owner Todd Boehly is set to enter exclusive talks in the bidding war to acquire Chelsea FC from Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, people familiar with the matter say From Wall Street journal.
April 29, 20224 yr Todd Boehly has held talks with Cannovile, CPO, CTS and the Chelsea Foundation. Sir Jim has done none of these things nor got PL approval, which Boehly has. He would surley need to make up quick ground.
