Because adverts make up the shortfall in income this forum needs to survive.

Give people the choice at least. I prefer to use the internet without a bunch of ads in my face, but I find it annoying how more and more sites can detect an adblocker and just dont let you use the site without disabling it...

You have got a choice, plenty of them, put up with it, donate, leave, find another forum, start your own forum, turn the internet off, the choices are unlimited. Sorry if it sounds harsh, but surely you have some knowledge in basic economics.

You could offer the choice of a subscription service without ads if that would economically viable?

It's not an option for @Mod Stark to choose from, as far as i am aware,?

Just a suggestion. I remember back in the day another forum (cfcnet I think) used to do it. It also got you access spare ticket part of the forum to help keep touts and various other degrees of w**ker at bay.

The ads don’t bother me anyway as long as they don’t take over the whole screen. I know they’re a necessary evil!

We've always (since the start) been against any sort of subscription based thing where people pay to use the forum. I have seen its an option at other forums in the past but they mostly have been heavily overloaded with ads.

Have always tried to keep it as less intrusive as possible. Any sort of pop up or pop under or vignette, etc etc is never added. The pop ups the other week were actually an issue with an advertiser creeping around the way Google displays on their platform.

I dropped a media company earlier in the year because the ad's started to show pop-ups.

I've disabled adblock and noticed that Privacy Badger still blocks the ads, so I just see white spaces where the ads should be. Does it actually hurt the forum financially if I'm still blocking the ads?

People who call Coco a buffoon are liable to wake-up the next morning in the same state as Mr Bobbit. I shall perform the operation long distance without benefit of anaesthetic.

You are right  - it's just slack use of language.  Every fool  knows he's not a buffoon,  he's a clown.
