February 13, 20206 yr I will throw Wigan ath at the old springfield park ,god forbid if you was there during a serious down pour since the grass/mud banking in the away end would turn i to a mud slide . saying that after looking at pictures of the away at SB before the rebuild ,that looks quite shocking with no cover what so ever .

February 14, 20206 yr I do remember counting the number of steps at Cambridge. ( it weren’t many) First away game 82 went there on a National Express coach which you did if you were really skint. Oakwell karzi was an open to the elements trough, and it was raining. Most grounds back then only had urinals- did think football fans never needed an Ertha Kitt? Cambridge 82 they were non league till 1970 I think and they just couldn't cope with the numbers we brought I went by train we had to sit in the carriage on the floor on the way back where they used to put the mail and bikes. Cardiff and Oldham coldest places I've ever stood watching football.
February 14, 20206 yr Plough lane or boothery park behind the goal for me. Both for not enough space for our large away following

IT was a Packed away end but no stress on the train since IT was donny > pboro > Cambridge if memory is correct ,hence no overcrowding carriages .

Wigan's old ground, without a doubt. I remember opting for a soaking after seeing some of ours sliding through the mud on their arses at the game you mention. Honourable mentions for Oxford and Wimbledon.
February 16, 20206 yr Yes agree with Oldham and Cambridge. Carlisle looked open and cold, but was in the seats and they were cold as well.
February 16, 20206 yr I find it ironic talking about the Away End remembering our away fans terrace at SB before the Matthew Harding stand was developed.
February 16, 20206 yr Nothing wrong with the North Stand away terrace, other than cover what was wrong with it ? The Shed was the same with a tiny little roof.so I am unable to get your point. Southampton at the old Dell was the worst, crap ground could not see a thing anywhere you went. Tottenham you never knew which was the away end every London side including ourselves would kick em out of it so they kept moving around......with 3 tiers it was easy for them to hide in the Shelf. How did I forget the Dell, terrible end.
February 16, 20206 yr Everton! Unless you got near the wall at the back it was terrible. Especially as the first couple of rows were below pitch level.
February 16, 20206 yr Fratton park before they slung the dodgy bit of corrugated metal over the top. You had a lovely view of the bogs in places if you looked down, perfect for a spot of voyeurism!

February 16, 20206 yr Unless they opened the centre bit Norwich was horrible with the view blocked by the fence. One time we took so many we filled both pens and it turned into a coin fight.
February 18, 20206 yr Barnsley, Cambridge, Oxford - all crap, all cold. The coldest was Derby but may be that was because I was only wearing a Pringle jumper and the second half got really cold. Never went to Wigan but heard it was a mare. Pompey was okay in my view. Spids - used to be strange because the end changed around a lot and even the OB would get confused.
February 18, 20206 yr Everton was bad because it was so squashed I didn’t see the game, although this kind of thing happened a few times at other games.

Changing ends that Reminds me of darlington away at their feethams ground ,you be stood in the so called away end for the first half and if your head was not switched or you was in the loop away fans changed parts of ground for 2 nd half . cant quite figure out how this worked and what part the Police played in this my memory is shot ,but this was during the 1980s when all and sundry were hell bent on knocking 7 bells out of each other .

March 6, 20233 yr Hereford.horrid....carlisle horrid....any uncovered end.....horrid...... Spurs disgusting
March 6, 20233 yr Hereford both ends were crap also they could have hosed down the cattle market outside.
