Strange doesnt equate to bad. Rob Green was definitely a strange one at the time, but it worked out nicely as he was fairly decent for us.

    What's even more strange is we signed him on a 4-year deal ?

    Vinnie Jones coming to the Bridge, I was there at Anfield to see him score and we got our first win there in decades. Didn't last long and certainly split opinion.

    Another was Joe Allen.

    Took an excellent corner to assist one of the goals for Red Star’s hilarious win against Liverpool in the CL a couple of years ago. I seem to remember them having a brilliantly slow centre forward who managed to run half the length of the pitch to score on the counter.

    Funny thing is I thought he was quite a player, he looked good in the preseason and he had a good game against QPR when he played and scored a goal. He just never saw light of day, he clearly wasn't rated by either Robbie or Rafa and considering where he ended up I can see why.

    From reading Wikipedia, he was deemed no longer good enough to be a German international 2/3 years before we signed him. Seemed like just another under £10m punt by the club.

    Never became a club regular again after signing for Chelsea despite no major injury issues, either he lost all motivation a la Drinkwater or was just not good enough to begin with.

    Still he has 2 Europa League titles to his name, which makes him more successful in Europe than Arsenal altogether.

    Has to be Papy Djilobodji. Mourinho was crying out for a CB the whole window, then Emenalo came and brought him that sweet gift on deadline day. Threw in Hector too to brighten Jose up some more. Hilariously pointless signings.
