May 23, 20224 yr We already have Christensen, rudiger, possibly azpi and alonso leaving. If possible I would obviously sell bakayoko, barkley and Lukaku, plus one of Pulisic or Ziyech since they have decent sale value. Loftus cheek and Hudson Odoi i would keep to give them a chance on a 4-3-3 formation and play them in their natural positions. They both played well for Sarri on that system plus we would need depth. I think everything depends on the system Tuchel plans to play moving forward. If it is the same with 5 defenders than we have seen this season many dont fit in and need to be sold/replaced.
May 23, 20224 yr I love how a disappointing season in which we placed 3rd in the EPL (A year after winning the CL) and you guys all want to rage sell 3/4ths of the team. Rudi and Christensen are leaving Of what's left I would def. sell Azpi - His appearances have dropped, he's made some blunders and he's on the wrong side of 30. Werner - He's not really a young player, and save for a very short spell of form he hasn't been on the pitch for important matches a lot. Barkley - He's simply used too little. Kepa - On too high of wages for his status as the 2nd choice keeper. That could of course create a problem with selling him but if he could be sold he should be sold. I am 50/50 on selling Alonso: Again he's on the wrong side of 30 and seems to be declining. But he can still hit a run of form from time to time. I would however like to see someone better playing behind Chilly. Lukaku: I think there is a good player in there but his commitment to the club has been questionable and he just doesn't seem to have the pace. Honestly I kind of think it was a mistake to sell Tammy and get Lukaku. Sarr: In terms of quality I would say sell. The problem is that we have a lot of replace on defense as it is. So I'm not sure we can just go selling defenders right now. Kante or Jorgi: Both seem to be in decline and while I think they can still contribute I also tend to believe that this might also be the last chance to get a decent fee for them. I would send CHO on loan. Edited May 23, 20224 yr by Valpo

May 23, 20224 yr Pau Torres and Milan Škriniar would be a good start to replace Christensen and Rudiger. Need to build a solid defence again before worring about scoring more goals.

I thought you were talking about the other "Torres" (Alice band, freckles, sh*t football). The one who had thread on here that made the Jorginho thread seem like a vicar's tea party!

I think we sell as few as possible as none of them have any decent value now and as tired and jaded as many of them are, at least we know they can muddle a top four finish. With just a 200 million transfer pot, todays wages and our lousy scouting staff, we could very easily end up with just two new players that are both as bad as Werner in whatever position they play. I’m just expecting a noisy but failed attempt to sign a high profile player and a couple of bargains from Burnley and Watford.

He needs to get consistent minutes to improve. I'm not saying he will become Mbappe . . . but we can't see what he will become because no one wants to give him a chance. Most of you just want to rage sell 3/4ths of the team that won the CL a year ago because we had one disappointing season (Where we finished 3rd) that involved injuries to key players (James and Chilly especially) and sanctions that threw everything for a loop. There are certainly improvements to be made but we arn't going to win any titles by rage selling most of the team the second they disappoint us. The players like Van Dijk and De Bruyne where not all star players at age 21. They developed into all star players. Those dudes are 30 now. But yes sell 3/4ths of a very young team. That makes total sense. Just like it made total sense to sell Tammy because he wasn't good enough . . . He's only #4 in scoring in Serie A after one freaking year. Edited May 25, 20224 yr by Valpo
May 25, 20224 yr I hope we stay away from big money signings unless they are truly elite (e.g. Mbappe, Lewa). It just adds a lot more pressure on the player and we have a lot more to lose if he fails. I would love Rice but nothing over 60-70M. On the flipside, our second choice should not be as low as Drinkwater. Personally I will invest heavily in the scouting network.

Even last/this season he was 3rd (in the league that is not just our team) on both key passes and big chances created. I get he hasn't (yet) lived up to the kid that smashed it at youth level but I'm actually shocked at the level of stick he gets, especially given the amount of chances and leeway Pulisic (who apart from finishing has been a lot worse for the last two season's) gets. He's our most creative player in a team very badly lacking it.

It's not technical ability, (that's Werner), it's not physical ability, (that's Jorginho and Pulisic), it's attitude. I probably need to explain that better. Bollocks, stones, cohones, agression, fight, passion a hint of nastiness when it is needed. Swagger, belief, f**k you fella I'm better. Stick ability, never give up, fight till the end. I don't think he has any of that. And that is something you can't learn. Same as a physical attribute like pace. God made you with it or he didn't. But this is mental. You either have it naturally or you don't. He comes across as so laid back and carefree he's practically horizontal. And that comes through in a lot of his performances, despite what random stats might be highlighted to argue he is 3rd best in the league in a particular metric. Edited May 25, 20224 yr by just

He's our most creative player in a team very badly lacking it. The only one up front that I've completely given up on is Werner. It seems like he has the yips like 80% of the time. If he didn't have the yips he'd be a great player. I'm not high on Lukaku either because of questions about his commitment, if he fits the scheme, and his age should put him at the prime of his career, so he's not a guy that I look at as someone who's going to improve significantly. The thing is that everyone talks about how we get in the next Mo Salah, the next Van Dyjk, the next De Bruyne. . . All those guys arn't 23 years old like most of our forwards they are 30 or close to it. (De Bruyne and Van Jyjk are both 30 last I checked and Salah will be 30 in like 3 weeks) Those guys where not who they are now at 23 years old. Hell 2 of them had Chelsea shirts on when they where 23 years old. You don't give up on players who can reliably get you in the top 4 every year at age 23 just because "they arn't championship level players". We can't just suddenly buy a championship level squad, we have to build one and develop one. That's not going to happen by rage selling 3/4ths of the team because "3rd isn't good enough." This is even more true today that Chelsea isn't going to be backed by Roman's endlessly deep pockets. Edited May 26, 20224 yr by Valpo
