May 20, 20224 yr Yes we should, I’d bin off Werner, Lukaku and Pulisic Get in L. Marinez to play with Broja and Kai Get good price on both Kante and Jorginho Utilising Gallagher, Mount, Kova, Reece in midfield Then sort out defence, we need a top PL defender or 2 to nick, I really liked Soyunco 18 months back etc
May 20, 20224 yr To go: Kepa Azpi (if he wants -if not keep him as back up) Christensen Rudi Sarr Alonso Jorginho Werner Lukaku Saul Kenedy Barkley Bakayoko Def keep: James Silva Trev Kova Kante Mount Havertz Chilly Ziyech (if happy starting on the bench) Undecided/replace if we can CHO Pulisic Mendy RLC

Keep CHO and Mendy, and Kepa. Its all about the wings for me........ RLC to Palace swap for Olise - who will play right midfield in front of James at RB. Stick with CHO and Chilly on opposite wing, with Calvin Bassey brought in from Rangers as back up for Chilly and to play LCB. Thats my thoughts so far, but as for central midfield and attack i'm easy with what Tuchel goes for.
May 20, 20224 yr I think what's an absolute certainty is that Lukaku can't be here. If we can't sell him, then loan him out. I can only imagine what an absolute downer he's been in the dressing room.

I would like to give Callum and James a run on the right, i swear those two have eyes in the back of their heads when it comes to eachother. Also Callum being an old school hug the touchline winger compliments James' inverted fullback nature. Not that I would be against signing Olise either, it's a squad game these days and IIRC he played wingback at times for Reading so two birds one stone. Edited May 20, 20224 yr by Argo

CHO is just too predictable on the left.

May 22, 20224 yr The "what the f**k do we do with this lot?" category: Barkley Loftus Cheek Emerson Bakayoko Sarr Kenedy Batshuayi

Not sure how Pulisic avoids this category given he's worse than every player on the list aside from Sarr and Arguably Kenedy. All the others have at least proved they can play at some level and all have had at least one good season under their belts in their careers even if they're not Chelsea standard. I could easily see Bats and Barkley performing for other clubs. Pulisic has literally never had a good season, not sure there's any market for him other than a commercial signing but that was true when he failed at Dortmund and we ended up signing him for none footballing reasons so maybe there's hope. Possibly Everton if Lampard fancies him again but I don't think he'd get a game there if Richarlison stays. Edited May 22, 20224 yr by HazardousChoice
May 22, 20224 yr Tuchel has a much tougher job going into next season than he did at the start of this one. The only players I am confident in right now are Silva, James, Chilwell and Mount. If we could keep Kovacic and Kante fit, they would be on that list too, but the rest?........huge question marks over their names. Kepa. Not good enough for the first team, but his wages are far too high for a backup Mendy, not been at the standard needed since that performance against West Ham. Azpilicueta (if he stays) legs look gone and it's turned him into a player that panics and makes mistakes, very unlike Azpilicueta. Alonso, excellent in the box, but lacks in so many other areas. Agility and pace in our set up is critical to it working, he doesn't have that and it has a serious negative impact on our attacking game. Sarr, not good enough, needs replacing. Chalobah, decent season, good enough as a squad player. Christensen, leaving, heads been gone for months now. Rudiger, would be on my list to stay, but he's leaving. Could be a big miss. Jorginho, good for 50% if the season, not good enough for the other 50%. Saul, nope. Barkley, nope. Loftus-Cheek, decent squad player, maybe. Flatters to decieve too often. Pulisic, too soft, lost his dribbling ability, gets bullied. Stuggling badly with the pace and power of the league. Ziyech, again, too soft, too slow, has moments of brilliance, but it's not enough. Hudson-Odoi, disappeared off the face of the Earth. Career currently not going as we thought it would. Werner, awful football. Havertz, has all of the talent, but he doesn't want it enough. He plays the game like it's a kick about with his friends. Needs to show much more urgency and use stop get a bit tougher. Lukaku, has no business playing for any top team if he can't control a football. So the next question is who do you keep and who do you replace?

New owners, probably with a decent budget to spend but faced with the possibility/option to ship on a fairly large number of players. However sometimes a massive turnover all at once can be problematic and it might be more savvy to consider next year as the first of a rebuilding transition. If you think of the number of players either out of contract, not really good enough for where Chelsea want to be or who may want to move on for the sake of their own career we could see all of these moving on. Kepa Azpilicueta Rudiger Christensen Sarr Kenedy Jorginho Barkley Cheek Saul - ok only on loan anyway Odoi Pulisic Ziyech Werner Lukaku That's a sh*t load of players. Not saying they all will or that we would find buyers for all of them however an argument could be made for selling every one of them except Rudiger. Would we really want a turnover so extreme in one window? I just don't see it happening so for me it's more of a two or three year rebuild. Probably see a couple of pitchers, a 3rd baseman and catcher get drafted.... apart from that I hope they got everything else mapped out for buying a few players and making a couple of trades. On a more serious note I'd like to think everyone on your list will be gone over the next couple of months.
May 22, 20224 yr Best to start with what we know. Christensen and Rudiger are definitely leaving and need replacnig. Azpi and Alonso will likely leave too, so that is already potentially 4 defensive spots that need replacing. Perhaps we can replace at least 1 of those from youth e.g. Colwill or Sterling. Beyond that I think we have a job on our hands to shift the eternal loanees. I would also consider selling or loaning out the likes of Sarr, Barkley, Werner, RLC. That alone would be a hell of a lot of business for 1 summer though

May 22, 20224 yr I would keep Loftus Cheek for another season, he’s a useful player to have. Don’t get me wrong, I agree he’s not good enough and he can be very frustrating to watch but I think there are far worse players in the squad we need to get rid of.

No. Gallagher coming in should void him out completely.

May 23, 20224 yr Now it is all done and dusted, it is VITAL that we avoid the mistakes of previous seasons, and actually have the long overdue clear out. The squad looks woefully short on real quality. I, having regrettably had to watch Liverpool and City up closely, have to admit that they are a Country mile ahead of us now and both have strengthened again, Liverpool with Diaz and now City with Haaland and it is a near certainty that both will go again in this window. Lets be honest, we have far too much "dross" masquerading as first team squad players. It has been listed previously, and we all know who has to go and who to keep, but it is now down to TT to sort this sh*t out and push Boehly and Marina. Definitely bring back, Gallagher, Broja, Guehi (if we can) and Levi Colwill, buy Kounde, Rice, Darwin Nunez and take a couple of decent Free Agents from the likes of Christian Eriksen, Ousmane Dembele, and Paulo Dybala, Ivan Perisic, Niklas Sule and Dries Mertens.

Good plans, and exploring the free market as best we can without paying ridiculous wages is a solid idea. Niclas Sule is not an option though, he signed with Dortmund already.

May 23, 20224 yr Rebuilding our defence will probably mean that some players(who in normal circumstances have moved on) will stay. Bringing in too many new faces will be counter productive in bedding the defence in.
May 23, 20224 yr It's unfortunate that the defence have become our greatest concern when it would have been the least of our worries if we could have kept our defenders. We may spend all summer "fixing" our defense but it's not going to improve us one bit as we aren't going to get anyone as good as Rudiger or even Christensen when he's motivated. What we actually would have had to fix if we wanted to compete next season was our attack and midfield to an lesser extent. Now that our defence is obliterated that doesn't work anymore but we as fans better temper expectations for next season unless we have a monster window. Because in terms of how we are looking right now then Top 4 will be hard enough next season.

I think getting Lewandowski in would solve a lot of our attacking problems, I see him like Thiago Silva, man is best striker in the world and he’d score anywhere. It wouldn’t be a terrible short term fix while we fix the defence imo.
May 23, 20224 yr He's on 400kpw at Bayern and he'll only get those kind of wages at Barca or PSG. Move on.
