Raphinha to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Personally I hope he goes Barca, I don't want CFC to be any player's second choice.  Especially if we are investing large sums of money in them, after Lukaku we need to learn our lesson. Barca are doing everything in their power to gather as much money as possible as we speak. Fingers crossed they get it sorted and sign him. Would we really want a player who dreams of Barca and as soon as theyre ready he'll be looking to leave us for them? Might not be after 1 season or 2 but you know they'll make him agitate for a move somewhere down the line

The club would have to fold as we'd never be able to field a starting 11.

There's less than 11 players on the planet that would want to play for us over Madrid/Barca and they'll have all have come through Cobham.

Even as poorly run as Barca are  the 2 Spanish giants are ultimately the dream of prettt much every player but it shouldn't discourage us from signing anyone.  Hazard was very clear early on that Real Madrid was his dream but that didn't stop him performing excellently week in week out.

There's not a player around with less mental strength than Lukaku.  Raphina may prefer Barca as I'd expect every Brazilian to but if we do sign him I'd still expect him to continue to deliver top class performances.

It's not like Leeds were his dream destination prior to Barca's interest.

I was excited about this 2 days ago when we agreed a fee with Leeds.

But now with Barcelona still his first choice and Deco looking like he wants him to go there as well it’s not looking so promising.

I think if we haven’t agreed personal terms with him by Saturday then he clearly doesn’t want to come here badly enough, and he would rather wait for Barcelona to do whatever crazy financial moves they need to do to sign and register players.

I think losing out on him and Dembele would be blow and could put us back to square one with wingers, with the added problem that our current wingers now knowing we want a couple of them replaced.

To be honest I think we'd be deluded to think that most of the players we have wouldn't have preferred a move to Barcelona before we signed them

We were Cesc's second choice tbf.

The fact Raphinha has said f**k off to both Arsenal and Spurs whilst only wanting to move to us in the Prem is telling.

Excl: Barcelona contacted Leeds yesterday night to submit new bid for Raphinha, following talks with Deco. Barça verbal proposal does not fulfill Leeds request, yet. #Raphinha Leeds insist on respecting the agreement with Chelsea for £60m. It’s still open on player side.

As expected Raphinha priority is Barca and Decos multiple talks with them has showed this. Now Barca trying to agree a deal with Leeds.

If Barcelona somehow manage to pay the full amount I think a full investigation should be done. The bloody president of La Liga said they have to sell 150m before they can even register Kessie and Christensen?

Maybe they got amply enough from selling some of their TV rights.

Selling the TV rights just had them in good standing for what they currently have. In order to bring their free agents (Kessie and Christensen), they have to sell 150m worth of assets/players.

By any other standards they would be in administration and asset stripped.

Spanish gov are not allowing it to happen as Barca are a huge institution just like Real and they will bend over backwards to help them remain so.

So am sure LA Liga can bend their rules so raph can join them.

So basically we have to wait and see if Barca can match our offer.

Personally I would be ok if he goes to Barca.  I'd rather see Chelsea invest it's money in great young CB's or a great #9 that isn't going to get homesick for his previous club.

Raphinha is a good player but it seems to me that we have a lot of good players up front we just don't have a great one.  Plus Havertz seems shoehorned into the #9 role.

They didn’t bend the rules last season when they were forced to sell Messi. Can’t see them doing it now.

Like I said, Barca cannot sign anyone.

And yet they are in talk with Leeds and Bayern and have made offers for both players.

Which is why I am highly skeptical of them offering anything that isn't an IOU, or there is something very shady is going on.

Bayern is a non story.

Could be, could be a loan with a buy obligation for the full 60mill next summer.

But there again lies the issue of registering the player when they need to sell before they do.

Probably be De Jong and Mephis they move on to achieve that.

Ive been harping on about barca for a couple years now, Its mental and blindingly obvious its absolute corruption with their mates in the suits that sit up at uefa etc

Barca are not an institution @axman2526 when it broke about how much trouble theyre in financially so much came out about what a giant scam the whole club is or at least became!

And yet all it cost them was Messi. No penalties, no loss of CL football. Nada.

Not even serious FFP charges. They did a turbo derby to say the least but got away with it

Yet we got embargoed, fined, banned, almost placed into admin the list goes on....for playing by the rules OR doing the same as any club re tapping up youngerns as it were

De Jong they could fetch 80m Euros. No way do they achieve the other 70m with Memphis. They already asked their players to reduce their wages for a 2nd time. Can't see the players agreeing to a third.

It isn't as if they can terminate contracts either, so I can imagine Barca's boardroom is 24hr on the clock work this summer.

They must have a plan since they are in talks with Leeds and Raphinha is not saying yes to us.
