True but maybe the reason why we are linked with so many players is so that we already have alternatives lined up when this sort of thing happens. I suspect we wanted no more than 2 out of 3 of Sterling, Raphinha, Dembele for example.

Truth be told, this whole ordeal has been embarrassing. Past few weeks matter of fact. It's as if we have no idea what we are doing. 

 

Playing chicken with Dembele for weeks, who does not want to join us in the slightest.  

Pissing about with Kounde who has seem to lose interest in joining us. 

Inquiring about Raphinha only after Arsenal were heavily linked. Paid everything up front without even agreeing terms with Raphinha first. 

Inquiring about Richarlison as a plan B to Raphinha only after he's all but finished signing for Spurs. 

And now we are all of a sudden interested in De Jong because United are heavily linked with him. 

And the one signing that did seem to cross the line in Sterling, is being held up because of f**king Nathan Ake? 

 

Have to say, this isn't a good look at all. No player will want to come.

Have to say, this isn't a good look at all. No player will want to come. 

Lets face it though. This rubbish started last summer when we made a total hash of it in the transfer market. Boehly did the right thing getting rid of them all, but he is trying to fulfil the role in the short term until we have a replacement. The alternative would be making a decision to stay out of the market altogether this summer, but with all the departures we need a few signings.

Or more likely we are being linked with everyone because the press think that the new owners are flush with cash, especially following the fanfare from them in order to win the bid. The reality when they are talking to agents and players about contracts and salaries may well be that we are cheap as chips, and therefore can't get anything over the line.

And thank f**k for that, Richarlison is at a club of his level, he’s probably still punching even at Spurs in all honesty, although he is more suited to their front 3 to give them some credit as Conte is no fool.

Dembele has literally been on video in his car saying he wants to stay at Barcelona, so not sure why we’re still speaking in code on here about “rumours’ of us being 2nd choice, as that is clear as day. 😅

Not surprising. It seemed likely from the start he was going to wait for Barca.

As has been pointed out is very rare a top side agree a deal only for the player to turn them down, especially a player of the standard of Raphinha from a club that was almost relegated. Is indeed embarrassing from our point of view and makes us look bad.

So far not impressed by the combination of our new owners and TT in these matters. Is embarrassing Lukaku held us by the short and curleys and made us give him what he wants, and our supposed list of targets is very uninspiring and not worth dumping our talented young players for.

Hopefully the people in charge learn from this, still time left to fix this window and make it a good one.

Aside from De Ligt, from the outside looking in and from what the media feeds us we have been very ‘reactive’, reacting to what’s going on in the market rather than identifying players outside the noise, it’s all interpretation at present just hope behind the scenes it’s less chaotic. So envious of how Liverpool & City operate in the window but that’s what you get when you build something special organisation-wise, hoping we get to that point in the future. 

Our most important signing will be an experienced DoF. The current setup whilst enthusiastic doesn’t have the relationships formed with any agents at present. As others have said, finding out if the player is actually interested in the move is normally the first stage, long before a fee is discussed.

He doesnt want to start at a club, having an uphill battle to win fans over.

I’m actually disappointed we haven’t withdrawn our bid, we should have said fine, go to Barcelona. I bet he will love playing with Braithwaite and Adama Traore.

Theyre such a mess at the minute I can’t believe they even have the cheek to be talking about paying in instalments, isn’t that just getting themselves in further debt?

Raphina plays in his position and Adama would start for us.

Withdrawing our bid would only let Barca get him cheaper.  If we only signed players that didn't prefer Barca we'd never manage to field an 11.

Most shocking thing to me is buying Ake, there are alot better options out there for the money we are rumoured to spend on him.

we shouldn't withdraw our bid because barcelona could pay less, let them pay full price

I hope you are wrong. Why would TT move Reece into the middle? One of his main strengths is his attacking play and crossing ability.

Depends on the game. Many times last season he struggled against packed defences. He doesn't have blistering pace, it's all power, so he will struggle to run past full backs that sit deep.

I don't suppose Clearlake Capital know or care much about football.  It's going to be a big learning curve this summer.

We nearly signed Hakimi last season, and Tuchel has said he likes James at right centre back as much as right wing back.

I think we will see soon, because i dont think we get dembele, or any other winger if we get Sterling. I think it was Sterling or Dembele, and i think it was Raphinha or Kounde.

If you are right that would also explain why Raphinha didn't want to join. I don't think we will get Kounde now. So most likely Jonathan Clauss from Lens would be our plan C. We have been linked with him in this window. I don't know much about him though.

Ake is being linked more for LCB cover I think. From what I have read De Ligt is only comfortable at RCB, so I that may mean Reece stays at RWB for now. Maybe Clauss would be cover for Reece as he is priced more reasonably.

According to Romano ake is coming as well as sterling. I think we could do worse than ake, quite fast, quite good on the ball and from what I’ve seen reasonably reliable

 

 

Very pleased, on the one hand you can argue he must be good if Barca wanted him so badly but, I'm sorry £60m for Raphina that's football gone mad. Barca saved us from ourselves and I'm sure anyone disappointed with this deal not happening will see that in due course.

Whilst we're on the verge of getting Sterling for £45m with add ons potentially taking it to £55m. If I had the choice between those 4 with the possibility to take 2 I'd choose only Raheem every time. I said yesterday we should be praying Barca come in and save the day and they did. Best of luck Raphina, bullet well and truly dodged imo he's good but not that good.

If we have £60m to offer for Raphina, we should have no problems closing deals for the rest of our primary targets. What Todd Boehly has shown the world is that once we have our target we can stump up the money right away.

Any deal that isn't over the line yet is because we're still in negotiations which is pretty obvious but also suggests once a deal has been struck we will move quickly to get it over the line.

My prediction still stays the same from what my main source reported for weeks. I expect Kounde and Dembele to arrive, you can add MDL and Sterling to that plus possibly Ake.

Apparently Barca think they can keep Dembele and get Raphina let's wait and see. 

Edit: Not the Kounde thread but I'll leave it here anyway. Part of the hold up supposedly for Koundé is previous board had verbal offer on table of €70m, since the changing of ownership and Todd doing the deals himself we have retracted the offer and now have €60m verbal offer out there. This week negotiations were ongoing with Sevilla who want us to offer more. Whether this is true or not remains to be seen.

Raphinha, hoping for Barcelona move with 5 year deal ready since March - no final answer sent to Chelsea yet, waiting for Barça. #FCB Barcelona bid last Thursday: €50m plus €10m add-ons, paid in installments. Leeds insist they only accepted Chelsea bid for £60m, as of now.

 

Sorry copy and pasted off my mobile phone, seems like he's been lined up for a while to Barca so don't blame him for preferring them. That said, there is still a chance he could choose us if Barca's bid isn't accepted.

We should f**k Barca over, by offering 60million for Lewa, just to see their lemon faces, where will Barca get 100million from?, they could just about hire a pedalo, down Benidorm way....
