Is it a one match ban? He's had a suspension already this season for picking up five yellows. Does this make it two games now or is it a completely separate thing? I've been trying to get clarification on this but I can't find anything.

One match. Counts as a red card, first red of the season.

If red cards happen for not "violent conduct" reasons the ban is one match.

His goal reminded me a bit of Puyol’s goal for Spain against Germany in the 2010 semifinal. The opposite side and not from a corner but, the jump, the anticipation and the hair…

Everton away is exactly the sort of game you want him playing so it’s a disappointment he’s suspended.

Hes offers so much in the final third that Maresca will have to change a few things as I don’t see Veiga giving us what Cucu does and I don’t think he’ll play Gusto on the left either.

Hopefully Lavia is fit.

Its annoying, especially when you see the video of the incident. I don't think he did anything beyond getting pushed. I could be wrong, but I think he would have missed the Everton game with his first yellow today as that made 5 for the season. Most likely Veiga will play next week. Maresca seems to trust him as cover in that position. He will at least bring some height and physical presence.

I just watched the whole match again. Cucurella's performance was bordering on the superhuman. He was everywhere. Whatever they are feeding him I want some, Mad red at the end. Probably just a few too many iron bars in his lunch.

I don’t care how well he plays, it’s so ridiculously unprofessional and stupid to get sent off like that after the game. If we’re honest he probably had it coming and the Hollywood acting earlier should have been a yellow as well so it was fully deserved anyhow.

See below pls...but I also agree about the second yellow. Its "soft -ish" to be a "second yellow" and I think the ref didn't realise it would be a second yellow till the linesman and Brentford player pointed it out. That's why there was a slightly longer gap between seeing the yellow card and red card by the ref at the time.

Stupid yellow, but when you want consistency in the league from refs its ridiculous compared to what happened at the Wolves game where no one got booked.

+1 to this.

I think I'm in the minority here but I don't think his first yellow was a yellow. He made contact with his trailing knee.

He got the ball and his trailing leg was bent, no studs showing, no double foot lunge, etc and it was cucu's knee that followed through and hit him on his boots.

If anything...cucu would theoretically be in more pain than the other guy.

Yeah, this is what you see on all fan fora. You’d never ever have said that if it were an opposition player

Oh, you'd be surprised at what I'd say sometimes. But go on...which part?

So anyone on here want to try and explain to me how is it Cucurella got a second yellow card for what the referee described as "aggressive behaviour towards an opponent",  and ended up with a red card and misses the next game BUT...Matheus Cunha slapped a fat bloke around the head and then ripped his glasses off and didn't get anything?

Because PGMOL are a complete waste of time and money and the officiating in the premier league is an absolutely horrendous standard.

As the best and richest league in the world i don't understand why we aren't employing the best referees from around the world.

People will complain of outsourcing.

I don't think the average fan would have any issue with it. No different from us signing the best players from abroad.

The only people i can imagine would have an issue would be PGMOL as they want to protect their mates getting paid top dollar to be pretty sh*te in comparison to refs on the continent.

PGMOL just love to be the center of attention - the lot of them.  Seem to thrive on the drama, get caught up in the emotion, and are awful at accepting feedback.  Any time a manager even opens their mouth they get fined.  Whole thing is a joke - if you are crap at your job you should probably get that feedback.

Re. the laws of the sport, I'd ban heading, get rid of the penalty spot, go to 10-a-side, have a 90m v 60m pitch, reduce the goal slightly to 7.2m v 2.3m, 15m goalkeepers box, 5m box for a goal-kick, 10m centre-circle. Players 10m back for a free-kick. 1m line for corners.

What fresh hell is this?

It'll help or suit females more, heading to score a goal is really silly, heading a ball in sport is silly. Smaller pitch with a couple less players will help how the sport comes across on TV. It's 2024, about time to change to the metric system. Too many contentious penalty decisions. Obviously meant 90 x 60 and 7.2m x 2.3m

But sadly no pace or sense of urgency

Sorry, the last part about the first yellow. And no, I didn’t mean you literally, just that fans are extremely bad at judging their own players. Not that it’s a surprise

So no one else here thinks that he needs to take responsibility? That it’s all on the ref? That his diving were unsportsmanlike?
