November 13, 20241 yr 2 things... He's apparently a top bloke off the pitch and is very settled so say my reports. Think we should be selling Estrella at the club so we can toast the bloke properly at games and sing his song. I think his celebration was brilliant cringe... He sort of comes across as an unrefined Dave... love the turnaround and performances.

He keeps the squad ticking and together.
November 13, 20241 yr I remember I found him really, really irritating at Brighton. He was constantly in your face and stopping a lot of attacks, I’m glad he’s at Chelsea. He can piss everybody off and I’m loving every minute of it!
November 23, 20241 yr Our best defender, and an all around leader. Quality. Wish he had timed his run better that Noni goal was a cracker.

Tell you what though - imagine Marcos Alonso in that role - LB to the 10 - perfect for him - he'd have gotten 20 goals a season!

Now that’s a thought Alonso with that peach of a left peg I could see him scoring 10+ from that position. His movement is also fantastic!!

He’s good and I can see him at a top club in the future but would cost probably more than Cucu because of our idiotic habit of over paying for players

November 25, 20241 yr I have to take back my words on Cucu. He's shown top quality (I thought he didn't possess) and top mentality (I thought he didn't have). Two passes he did against Leicester we excellent, shame he was marginally offside on Madueke goal. Well done Cucu!
November 25, 20241 yr One of the first names on the team sheet, with Caicedo and Palmer. Great player, strong personality.
November 25, 20241 yr Kudos to him, he has really turned it around. From being dross for the first 1,5 years of his Chelsea career, to being one of the first names on the team sheet! I didn't think he had it in him.

Just shows us not to write off our players or at least some of them. Cucu had some terrible games. Much worse than some of our players that many on here think are championship level and nowhere near the levels required. Im guilty of it myself regarding Mudryk and Enzo. Glad to see improvement in both and here’s hoping I’m wrong.

I`m still not sold on his defensive ability, hes still making mistakes in positioning and choices, but in saying that then the good things he does now outweigh those mistakes, and he's better at recovering from them, he has definitely earned the position over the past few months,
November 26, 20241 yr I'll whack my blue tinted goggles on and strap myself in for this one. On form, from the back end of last year, through the Euros and now this season, he's the best LB in the world.

His position is almost tailored for him under Maresca and it’s fairly niche so you might not be too far from the truth but there are definitely better wing backs than him and for a more traditional left back too. I’ve written off better players than Cucu at Chelsea but I always had faith in him. It’s nice to be right once in a while.

I think Cucurella is in that bracket, and he will remain a key player until such time that his unique role is no longer justified.
November 28, 20241 yr Cost us a goal against Leicester. Not with poor defending, but because of his giant hair being ruled offside by VAR.

I don't think he is proving people wrong, because he really would have had no future here if we carried on playing him as a traditional LB. He's a system player, and one of the best around in this role.
December 1, 20241 yr Made a good assist and dealt with every attacking threat that came his way. Brilliant performance.
