I honestly don’t think I’d have any lb in the prem over him and I think mendes is the only one better in the world.

I might be forgetting someone but I’m going through the top clubs Bayern Davies has dropped off. Madrid and Barcelona have Spanish left backs who don’t start over him. Theo Hernandez has just moved to Saudi for 25 million so I don’t think he is. So yeah I think cuccerella is the second best in the world.

I'd've rated brother Lucas a better defender but injuries have really stymied him. I think you're right about Mendes, even if neutralised in the final and that was down to great tactics carried out to a tee.

Not sure anything change about my assessment on Cucu. Not great at 1v1 (have been much better recently), not athletic, not a great attacker but a willing runner, decent passer.

Because he doesn't have the athleticism so his defending style is very aggressive, that is not ideal but as long as the one behind him is quick, this is fine.

Cucurella is finally playing as the player we wanted him to be and is right up there with the best in the world on his day, but the others are levels above on theirs.

Assessing defender is very difficult. We all know player depend on system and who is around you and this is especially very true for defender.

Robertson was done 2 seasons ago, Ake us arguable also.

Love Cucurella to bits, a decent human and gentleman... But there are far better left backs out there and there are far better defenders. I always think he'll have a headless moment in a game.

Does that make me want other players in our team, no, Cucrella is a big character and he cares about his teammates and Chelsea and he's been an absolutely willing runner who puts in big shifts for us... he is proof to me that if you lack top end ability, the harder you work the luckier you get. He has rightly earned his place in the side.

Pretty limited player but absolutely maximised what he's been blessed with and now is an important part of the squad.

I don’t believe any of those are better than Cucu and I wouldn’t change him for any of them. Maybe as his backup but not starting ahead of him.

He’s aggressive nasty streak, his ability to get tight to and don’t let wingers breath and his massive improvement in 1v1 from when he first joined makes him stand out above those players.

People always think you can get better and grass is always greener but as it’s been proven that’s not always the case.

Also there is a guaranteed two red cards for the opposition for pulling is hair next season without a doubt.

And he’s whines up the opposition fans and players to the extent they lose their heads easily. We need nasty players like him because we had become too nice and easy to play against which has been a problem for us.

Hoping he signs soon! I am pretty sure he would love to sign for us too. If you know about Cucurella's family, you would understand why this would benefit them. Watch the Amazon show "Married to The Game" Season 2, you would fully understand why he had a difficult time initially getting started with us. Such a wholesome man and family 😇
