A "square pegs in square holes" 4-3-3 for me for tonight. Most will question having Ziyech in there at RW, but I basically picked our two best out-and-out wingers, which is Sterling and Ziyech all day long.

Zakaria to anchor the midfield 3 at DM, with Gallagher and Chukwuemeka in the more advanced roles, with a brief to get into the box as much as possible.

This is way too sensible and coherent of a plan which means it won't likely happen but a very good team nonetheless

Play the benchwarmers and kids if possible. Rest the starting 11.

If we can top the group, great. If not, it's fine. This won't be the year we can challenge for the CL.

We have already won the group.

I don’t think Zakaria is going to play a single minute for us

potter said “he is in the frame, he is in the selection” but I would be surprised if he isn’t shipped back to Turin come January

If he doesn't feature tonight then I am almost 100% certain he will be shipped back without playing for us.

I wonder if Silva will be playing or if he is rested for the Arsenal game

i would lean towards a koulibaly & chalobah partnership

Given our injuries in defense I am not sure why we would risk Chalobah either. Koulibaly makes sense only to give him some minutes for fitness following time out injured.

Honestly I hope that’s the case

I have my bellyful of all these last minute loan signings

we should take a look at Haïdara

Rumours doing the rounds of only Silva and Kova rested. Potters regulars otherwise

We will play a lot better with Jorginho

We need to play our starters so they can shake off that Brighton disaster

physical tiredness is nothing compared with a lack of confidence, the mental side can override the physical

They’re both sh*te. Especially at the same time.

So if a starter gets injured will you blame Potter?

That is the rumour

I don't agree with that approach if it is proven to be true. I could only assume Potter wants to put the result on Saturday behind us and get a win tonight. But I would prefer players are rested.

So we are going to play the majority of our starters when they should be resting?

Resting makes sense when they're playing well.

They aren't playing well.

Actually our guys need reps and Potter needs to figure out a better system. A match where the result doesn't matter for us is very good at the moment.

In a dead rubber in the CL you can bank on it Apzi.

Against Arsenal and Newcastle though it's more of a long, outside bet.

Team:

Mendy; Azpilicueta, Chalobah, Koulibaly, Chilwell; Zakaria, Jorginho, Mount; Havertz, Aubameyang, Sterling

Not resting many players so I assume hoping some of them to play their way into some form? Lets hope we don't pick up any injuries.
