And Canada. And San Marino. And the Lofoten Islands.

Would be unique and a tremendous experience for the San Marino players. Historic.

Not heard of the Lofoten Islands.

I don't think it was a penalty. Collision more than anything.

Never a pen for me. Scotland didn't do anything like enough to win the game either. Hungary deserved to go through and their No.10 was the best player on the pitch by a country mile.

Also underlined that Gilmour is an okay player, but nothing more than that. Way too many sideways and backwards passes. At times I thought it was Jorginho!

There was a load of bias by the pundits and commentators. The bits I heard, they kept raving about good passes, passages of play, etc...here and there by scotland but they weren't anything special compared to over teams imho. Including Hungary which I believe deserved the win in the end.

Allie Bruce Ball and Pat Nevin on 5 Live were actively barracking for Scotland. Late on, ABB actually said "Come on, Scotland!". No different to 5 Live's coverage of England games. Always "we" rather than "they". Italian commentators, surprisingly, manage a lot more objectivity on Italy games.

Tbh, I don't mind them supporting Scotland and saying "we" as they are Scottish and it's a home nation.

It was more of the feeling every good-ish pass or passages of play by scotland was touched by god! Lol

*Every good pass was a brilliant or excellent pass for example...

One and the same thing. Patriotism comes in the door, objectivity flies out the window.

That's the Faroe Islands :laugh2:

Aye that's the one. Thank there may have been one or two times England had both them and San Marino in the qualifying group.

Lived in Jersey for a bit until recently. Every year the Channel Islands had an inter Island tournament, Sark included. Very few chimney pots in Sark. If you can keep the ball up five times your team captain for life!

Yup . San Marino went a goal up after just 8 seconds against England in a qualifier.

England rallied to win 7-1.

Despite that, England failed to qualify for the 1994 world cup tournament .

I'd expect a bit of pro Scotland bias from a Scotsman, no difference from English pundits in that respect.

Shearer and others were right behind England, I don't expect neutrality in football .

f**king annoying if it's bias against Chelsea though !

Southgate expected to make changes. . . .yeah, his experiment in midfield hasn't worked out and so he is dropping TAA for Conor.  As much as i like Conor, if England would like to win the tournament then the sooner we play both Bellingham and Palmer the better.

And that they were the best team in the world at the 54 world cup and only got beat by the miracle of Berne.

I had to look that up !

Hungary beat Germany 8-3 ( I think) earlier in the tournament but lost 3-2 to Germans in the final! I'll have to read more about it.

England of course were knocked out earlier.

I've always wondered how Hungary were able to develop an innovative way of playing back then behind the Iron Curtain.

Short lived though it appears to have been.

Thanks for info mate

A load of Jocks from Wimbledon direction I know have been out there for past week. All middle aged and done OK for themselves, family men etc. Some great stories filtering back, lads going missing for days on end etc…There’s nothing social about Scotts drinking- they just drink to get hammered

A Scot I know went out to , was it Seville? , for that Celtic final. They went to a lap dancing bar, got stitched up with drinks, paid loads extra for a " special" massage in a booth only to have their bald heads massaged for about £50 quid each, before being turfed out by muscle bound bouncers for getting mouthy about it !

Legendary other tales too !

Funnily enough I was in Marbella that weekend on my stag do.2003- the whole cost was engulfed by Celtic fans. Was chatting up a bird- Scottish incidently - when saw a Celtic fan walk in without a shirt on- remarked “ Have a look at this ….” The bloke lip read me .Big bastard, built like a snooker frame, came right into my face…” Is there a problem here sonny”…

Me..Arse fell out…” No just wondered if you’d like a wee swally”
