September 10, 20232 yr He's so sh*t. Now is the perfect time to move on from Maguire and Henderson and prepare the likes of Colwill for the Euro's in 2024, but no, Southgate still picks players that are going to hold England back from taking that step up and actually winning something.....again.

Not his mistake whatsoever

The guy is a klutz and shouldn't be anywhere near the England team, it's like putting Titus Bramble there. Maguire doesn't even play football for his club anymore. September 11, 20232 yr Southgate is a very likeable bloke but is way too boring and like so many managers, he has that stubborn trait where he likes to pick his favourites even though it is glaringly obvious they are bad choices. Maguire and Henderson FFS?!! The sooner he moves on the better. Would like to see Eddie Howe take the job. With that current squad there are no excuses. We should be winning a tournament or two - especially when you look at how poor the likes of Germany and Italy are currently.
September 11, 20232 yr Tbh in Southgate's credit he has delivered the past two international tournaments, despite being absolutely boring in the qualifiers.
September 12, 20232 yr Bellingham's going to be one of the best around. I thought he was sh*t against us last season for Dortmund, but he's gone up a level this season. Thank f**k he didn't come back to English football. I would hate it if he was playing for City or Liverpool.

The former for further monopolizing the league and the latter for the unbearable scouse egos going up another level.
September 13, 20232 yr He really does look like he's going to be incredible, the level he is already at is remarkable for his age.
September 13, 20232 yr Bellingham's a c**t and should have been sent off against us last season. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11834603/Chelsea-Thiago-Silva-hits-Jude-Bellingham-crunching-tackle-Reece-James.html
September 15, 20232 yr England should be looking to win the Euro's next year. This isn't like the so called golden generation where there were other teams around them just as good, like Spain who were also experiencing a golden generation of their own. France are the only team that should come close to standing in England's way at the Euro's. If Southgate takes Maguire, Henderson and Philips, he will only hurt England's chances. The fact that he didn't drop them for the first 2 games of this build up to the Euro's and gave somebody like Colwill zero minutes is terrible management. Also, I don't care what Southgate says about Maguire, he shouldn't be playing for England. He's been sh*te for a long time now is being made to look stupid more often than not. He is responsible for some of the worst defending I have seen at the highest level. It's funny watching it for United, but I don't want to see if for England. As for his mum's statement, what a joke. Maguire doesn't even take responsibility for his mistakes, he's always looking at somebody else and blaming them. The simple fact is that the guy is playing at level beyond his capabilities, more now than ever seeing as he can barely run. Edited September 15, 20232 yr by Scott Harris
September 15, 20232 yr @Scott Harris I'll be shocked if we win anything under Southgate, still lots of squad harmony and guess the FA management is happy.
October 17, 20232 yr Author England v Italy. Don't think we have beaten them at home in a WC or Euro qualification game since 1977.
October 17, 20232 yr Author Ha, ha, ha. Been all England and then the first attack they have, Italy score. England have some tremendously talented players in Kane, Stones, Bellingham, Rice, Foden. But when you have them next to bang average players in Maguire and Phillips it evens itself out.
October 17, 20232 yr Author Breath-taking stuff from Bellingham. The Italians are struggling to cope with him. 1-1.
October 17, 20232 yr Author So far Bellingham is on another level to all the other players on the pitch. He just seems able to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants.
October 17, 20232 yr The commentary on C4 is doing nothing at all to lift what sounds like a non existant atmosphere at Wembley. Dull as dishwater on both counts.
October 17, 20232 yr Author Can't believe Southgate has just subbed Jon Stones off. And left Kalvin Phillips on. Phillips is all over the shop positionally and already had a Yellow card. Edited October 17, 20232 yr by just
October 17, 20232 yr Author Well this has been a canter for England. Kinda feels like they have played in bursts and won easily without even getting out of third gear. I'm 62 now and watched football all my life. I've never seen an Italian national team so bereft of talent. Following the international retirements of Bonucci and Chellini they don't have a single, genuine, unarguable world class player. Not one. And that has never been the case for Italy in my lifetime.
October 17, 20232 yr Makes me laugh how a few on here said they didn’t want Bellingham. He’s incredible. Clearly going to be one of the world’s best if not already and he’s 20. Sheesh.

Coining a new term for "the Guardiola way," Chiellini said: "Guardiolismo has ruined many Italian defenders a bit -- now defenders know how to set the tone of play and they can spread the ball, but they don't know how to mark. Unfortunately, that's the way it is. "When I was young, we used to do drills to get a feel for the man you were making. Nowadays, from crosses, Italian defenders -- and I can only really talk for Italian defenders, I am only relatively interested about foreign players -- don't mark their man. "It's a great pity because we're losing our DNA a bit and some of those characteristics which had made us excel in the world."
