November 17, 20232 yr Rashford should be dropped. His run of form is worse than two seasons ago, and that's saying something. Maguire looks like a clown as usual too. The shape of the team is just bizarre from Southgate. This doesn't even feel like experimenting, he's just playing players all over the place. Gallagher playing LM doesn't look right, it doesn't suit him to be so static, he likes to be everywhere. Alexander-Arnold looks uncomfortable playing RM. Tomori playing LB? what? Another generation of talent gone to waste under a bang average coach. Edited November 17, 20232 yr by Scott Harris

November 20, 20232 yr Since 1966 we've convinced ourselves that but for a succession of useless managers our conveyor belt of " Golden Generations " and world class players would have won trophy after trophy. Just one final in all those decades, it's f**king pitiful.

Maguire FFS and Alexander-Arnold doing nothing in the midfield. Foden was good and Grealish did okay and good to see Palmer get some more minutes but why wait so late? Only thing duller than England's performance was Dion Dublin's "punditry". He is so boring and more often than not, completely wrong too!!

I thought Grealish was largely poor never saw him run down the left just cutting inside, really thought Sterling would have been better on the left. Interestingly Souness said something similar midweek, ask defenders who frightens them most, Grealish or Sterling, a non contest it was always Sterling. Maguire often seemed the only one setting up attacks almost as though the midfield could not do it. Saka was dire in the the first half improving in the early part of the second half. Bizarre game mostly clueless with a few moments of the play coming together.

It's still littered with quality but there was a time where it looked like they had 2 teams worth of players who would win the lot
May 18, 20242 yr Ymlaen Deutschland! It's nothing personal, just anti much of Fleet Street(yes, the press aren't based on Fleet St anymore) and slightly anti Westminster, though they have done some good to me over the years, thank you Westminster for that, blinking thank you very much.

May 20, 20242 yr I need to go to my local pub and enter the sweepstake. Whoever picks the winning team will win £100.
May 21, 20242 yr So Southgate does have balls, no call up for Rashford. England look in big trouble at LB though. Shaw and Trippier are injured, Chilwell hasn't been picked and he's left all of the others out.

It’s probably out of Southgate’s tactical scope but it does seem like he’s banking on having a centre half play on the left and potentially inverting Trent into midfield. Gomes has played on the left for that scenario for Liverpool and Levi could have done it as well

May 28, 20242 yr England should have better chances in a shootout this time round with the likes of Kane, Palmer, Toney, Alexander-Arnold and Bellingham Saka shouldn't be near the first 5

May 31, 20242 yr I really hope this is Southgates last tournament, regarless of your thoughts on if he should or shouldn't have done better with the squad England have now it feels like the end of the cycle with him. Bookies have England as favourites going in but given the near misses of the last 3 tournaments (and i count the last as a near miss as I think they win it if they beat france), I think another would begin to build a bit of a mental block within the squad under the same management.
