I've had a few 9% and 10% over the years but tend to drink beers between 4% and 5% in strength. If I could choose a beer for England would probably choose from the Wantsum, Woodforde, Salopian or Blacksheep. Or Timothy Taylor or Gales HSB. I read that England's official beer is Budweiser which, for me, is the worst beer ever produced. As for Scotland, from the Skye Brewery or Deuchars.

Can think of a lot better beers for the two countries. https://www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/lifestyle/food/europes-best-beers-go-head-32763970 Hey Boyne I watched 2 docs on iPlayer, Scotland world cup '74 and '78. Forgot completely about Johnson drug test fail. And that before Cubillas wonderful free kick goal he had scored an impressive goal just before that. It's excruciating watching Ally McCloud as the tournament unfolds, strangely moving at the end. A few seconds before the end of one of those docs there's a brief clip from behind the goal of a game at Hampden, the camera pans round to catch those mountainous packed terraces. I still love those images.

I still love those images. Scotland had two very good squads in '74 and '78. A shame that Scotland no longer produces outstanding players. I watched some of the '78 Scotland World Cup campaign programme the other night. Ally McCleod was very passionate about his football but sadly proved out of his depth in the tournament and didn't do any research into either Peru or Iran. Poor given that Peru had won the South-American championship. I didn't watch the game against the Netherlands as feared the worst. Couldn't believe the result when I watched the news. Agree about Hampden Park. An incredible sight. One of my grand-fathers was there to watch a Scotland v England game and there was just under 150,000 in attendance. Has changed a lot over the years and it's a shame that the capacity is now a lot less. Have been to Hampden a few times over the years. First time was in 1980 for a Scotland v England match. Was also there in 1989 for the Scottish Cup Final. Unfortunately Celtic beat Rangers 1-0.

From England it would have to be an IPA from Verdant. From Scotland a sour from Vault City. I remember Budweiser being a drinkably sweet lager around 10-15 years ago but I bought a 4 pack a couple of years ago and it was absolutely f**king awful.
June 14, 20242 yr Think this could be a great tournament.,Not convinced by our favourites status. Portugal and France both look handy and dont signs of being bottle jobs
June 14, 20242 yr Hope England nor Scotland win the whole thing, imagine listening to Brazil, McCoist and the rest of the pundits and journos over the next few years, no thank you. If England do win it, at least I can say, well it's not the WC, England should be winning WC's.
June 14, 20242 yr Mark my words, 3 weeks and we'll all be well up for... 17th August 2024... Premier League returns...
June 14, 20242 yr So glad that the totally unbiased Graeme Souness is on Tv for a balanced perspective. Pr*ck.

Both look like literal game changers. 21 players camped in the Scottish half. Neuer must be bored as fk! Someone pass Neuer his phone to play candy crush or a nintendo switch or something. June 14, 20242 yr I've been watching and it is very bad for Scotland. To start with, they were too pedestrian upfront as Adams lacks pace so could not threaten Germany building from the back. I have criticised Musiala before yet today has played well and so has Havertz, he has played intelligently. Germany have looked much sharper preventing Scotland from having good time on the ball or building their play. Can only see more German goals from here.

They have gone very defensive but very static as well. Therefore there is so much space in midfield, Gundogan, Kroos etc can just pick passes cutting through the lines and wit clever third man running form Wirtz, Havertz and Musiala it really looks like men and boys. I predicted 6-0 as a bit of banter today. It could actually end up being accurate.
June 14, 20242 yr Unfortunately, unless we win it, the record books will still show England and Scotland tied together as equals in the Euro trophies won .
June 14, 20242 yr Scotland are like Wales - Absolute dross at international level. England will suck the life out of the tournament and Germany will probably run out of gas - France to win it.

That spell of German possession leading to the penalty came about from Scotland trying to pass it around in their third in the face of German ferocious pressing. Daft tactic that will cost loads of teams to gift goals .

The tempo and intensity as well as aware of teammates around them and the appreciation of diminishing space sets this German team on a completely different level than Scotland. Certainly on this showing so far.
