I'm watching the Spain v Croatia game in a bar in Cordoba. Morata has just made all the locals very happy.

Commentators just saying morata received death threats after he was selected in the squad but manager stood his ground.

Really? Probably not a good idea to let a few of the locals know what I think of Cucurella as a defender then!

As I write Spain get their 3rd goal.

Really? Bloody hell.

How is Morata the captain though, with guys like Carvajal in the team. Very odd.

Don't you see how he radiates elder statesman?

Make sure the exit is clear for a quick getaway.

Think it's the manager stamping his choice for morata during the death threats.

I'm surprised the Spanish are so negative towards Morata. He's always performed more consistently with them than he ever has at club level. It's also not like they are blessed with top strikers these days, Morata is still the best they have.

Irate Spaniards thinking they should have won so much more yet thinking Morata lets them down i guess.

Maybe winning the Euro's twice in a row and a World Cup went to their heads a bit and now they think they should be winning every tournament.

Their golden generation, maybe..........

Surely Rodric as last man should see Red, did I miss something?

Only seems to be a red when you foul as the last defender 40 yards from goal but fouling from 10 yards out denying an open goal is apparently ok…

Or is it officials frightened to make a tournament costing decision against a big side?

It depends. If the ref feels that the player is trying to win the ball, it's a yellow card, even if he is the last man and an open goal. If it's a deliberate foul and he's the last man, it's a red card.

Check out Gary Neville blaming Cucurella for Spain not winning the tournament before a ball has even been kicked.

Him and that other clown Carragher just can’t disguise their hatred for anything Chelsea connected.

Yeah, I get the theory but the results are just so random from one match to the next and I’m not convinced Rhodri was trying to win the ball so IMO it should of been a red.

I actually thought it wasn't a penalty. Both replays show he tripped over his own foot after planting his first foot forward.

Bbc live said "there was contact but rodri didn't trip him. Let's leave it as that"

Something like that...I'll grab a screenshot.

I've really enjoyed it so far , no endless passing around , but quick attacking football for the most part, even Spain didn't hog possession.

With England's dodgy defence, we should be doing the same, going for goals from the off.

Btw Albania to beat Italy, although an average Italian side is more than capable of getting through to the latter stages of competitions.

Yes he sort of stubbed his toe into the ground and dived - there was minimal contact before that - I was surprised VAR didn’t pick that up but there you go, mattered little in the end

That's thing.. we see the same incident,  but some of us will agree and others will disagree with the refs decision.
