Another player that was handled in a shambolic way by Potter in my opinion alongside Datro Fofana and many others. At the start he looked like exactly the kind of striker we needed - someone that could put the ball in the net. With Tuchel at the club I am 100% sure Aubameyang would be our top scorer this season with 20+ goals.

Doubt that very much. Aubameyang despite a couple of goals, has looked a completely spent force. His work rate has been non-existent. His hold up play, too, non-existent.

The second goal is probably even worse for the set up and positioning. We are unbelievably bunched and there is acres of space for the Madrid players on the edge of the box

We've got our 9 remaining outfield players essentially covering only 3 or 4 of theirs ....

Poor Kante missing Jorginho, he got blown away by an aging Modric. This is how much structure and stability we're lacking.

Thanks Gol. I just want to say, on behalf of everyone here, you always know how to make us laugh.

I was saying about the lack of a good striker while you were crying about Jorginho, now you sound like me so I guess I always get the last laugh anyway.

Assuming there will be positive signs at some point.

There is a developing symmetry with the disastrous US ownership of Liverpool by Hicks and Gillett just in the calamitous way we seem to lurch from crisis to crisis with Boehly apparently fanning the flames of media mockery rather than diffusing things or just keeping his bloody gob shut. Which is worrying.

Next stage perhaps a major falling out between Boehly and Eghbali as the implications of financial mismanagement take a firmer grip of the club.

Interesting comparison with Hicks/Gillett. I forgot about them but they were comically bad for Liverpool. I agree that to date we should have similar concerns.

Personally, I don't quite agree with that. Despite even winning the CL, I feel that we'd been a house of cards for some time. The forced change of ownership is what brought it finally crashing down. But Boehly and Clearlakes ownership could probably have even brought down an underground nuclear bunker made of 6 foot thick reinforced concrete.

I wouldn't exactly name it "a house of cards" but surely changes were needed as the gap between us and City/Liverpool became huge at a certain point. After the CL win I thought there was a sense of momentum which could've turned things around rapidly. Sadly we didn't make any use of it mostly because of disastrous transfer decisions that summer. Still things were looking promising until Boehly & co. decided it was a good idea to change the whole system. Fair play to them, they managed to ruin our club in record time...

And I'm 100% sure a better keeper would have saved it too - Thibaut for instance...

Hence why some people were hesitant about sacking Potter. It's never just one reason things are going badly.

Amen to that Val, but for some it is all Potter, the players are only bad because of him, only thing board did wrong was appoint Potter etc etc.

Some of those bellends are residing here. Every loss is a step towards a New Jerusalem, donchaknow.

Yup, a fair bit of head in sand reactions.

another record. The ghost of Potter lives on. Woohoo

When are you going to stop blaming Potter for the teams failings?  Next game?  Two games?  End of the season? Next year? Five years time? hundred years time? Potter hasn't been anywhere near the club for the last three games, three games in which we have scored NOTHING, yet its not the players its Potter!??

I think the transfer bans, the sanctions and the change of owner have an awful lot to do with it.

watching Man City last night just demonstrates how devoid we are of team spirit .. this is going to take two seasons to sort, at least

But will any new managerial appointment be given two seasons, unfortunately I doubt it.

Next week is the biggest game of the season. Failing that then we might as well bring in the new manager for early pre-season

I'm wondering why we can't do that?  I'm hoping its because the board want to ponder the next move VERY carefully, ideally though we need the new man to have as much 'pressure off' time as possible, the new man will not face 'pressure' for the remainder of this god forsaken season, the pressure WILL however get ramped up a few games into next season when we are not in the top 4!!  We HAVE to give the new man a chance!
