Discussed many a time... but highlighted again last night. There is still a time and place , even if you got talented defenders to just put your foot through the ball. There's got to be. Or take one for the team ! JT would have.

Their first goal was daft we had about 4 players who could have just laced it ! - they were not even under that much pressure.

The second Cucurella should have just taken the ball the man everything, he wasn't even on a yellow,  I don't wholy blame him though, there was little support after Murphy had gone past him, I think we are missing a strong defensive mid there.

39 points now, personally I think that will be enough to stay up this season.

Normally 40 points is the safety target for most teams. But I think the total will be much lower this season. Even Everton are probably feeling pretty comfortable on 25 points, unless they get another points deduction of course.

Loads of positives from last night.

Gusto will take some shifting when James can get and stay fit.  We might see him at left back with James RB.

Trev had a fine game.

Disasi solid and probably our number 1 CB option.

Cucu was good although he does tend to dive in like he did for their second.

Enzo was fairly quiet but he’s a class act.

Caicedo was the pick of our midfield. He’s improving.

Connor probably shouldn’t have played last night but I completely understand why he was picked.

Sterling will be off should we get a decent offer in the summer.

Palmer is our best player. Nuff said.

Jackson is probably going to beat Drogba’s goal tally in his first season which too many fans don’t appreciate.

Mudryk was excellent. I’ve been hugely critical of him which has been warranted but I’d be better off criticising the recruitment team as he was nowhere near ready for the PL and the fee we paid was at least double what he was worth. If we can get him attacking the defence he might still have a future at Chelsea.

Casedei was also excellent. He won every header he went for which is something we really miss in the midfield. I think if he stays he’ll end up being an important player for us.

Carney is a player who has loads of potential but needs a run of games and fitness.

Looking at our remaining fixtures there are so many winnable games. I fully expect us to finish 7th. Maybe even 6th if we can turn over Utd at the Bridge.

I think you watched a different game to me.

not much time for them. Like Leeds they think they should be top of the pile because of their so called glorious past and huge following. Their cup final was against PSG . I would have been spitting mad if we'd not taken all three points tonight. How many goals is that for jackson now?

9 in the league, 12 goals in all competitions.

The mascot who had to walk out with Cucurella didn't look happy. He was nearly the same size.

Which one was the mascot?

All 3 of those. Trev was all over the place at times, his defending was pretty poor, his positioning was worse.

Disasi was neither solid nor is he No.1, he plays because hes fit, but he has been very poor since december, and once again was caught out several times against Newcastle. He seems to be caught on the wrong foot far too often for a quality CB, his body position is very odd.

Cucu wasnt good, he was ok for his standard, which is a low bar since he signed. He broke up our attacks more than Newcastle's, constantly turning back to pass it backwards, bringing nothing positive going forward. He then had his usual brain fart that led to  a goal.

Agree with all of that. If Newcastle were in better form, or had Callum Wilson available, we would have been punished.

The Disasi / Chalobah CB partnership is makeshift at best. I've seen it a couple of times now and both fill me with dread. I like them both, but they both have so many errors in their game. Think if everyone was fit, Colwill and Fofana would be first choice pairing. I absolutely love Silva, but have to accept, this is probably his last season and there are obviously huge question marks over whether Fofana will ever be able to play many games. So see rotation of Disasi, Chalobah and Badiashile, or perhaps releasing one or two of them and signing another CB.

Wins a win and we’re in another semi final so can’t complain too much, Sanchez is a terrible keeper though and Disasi Chalobah are about as dodgy as can be
