That was made out to be way tougher than it should have been. Newcastle were terrible, but some of our players just don't understand how to control a game of football and make vital mistakes when it matters most.

Some good performances tonight though, Gusto, Caicedo, Palmer and Jackson had the right mentality from start to finish. The rest were up and down apart from Mudryk who made a big difference when he came on. He was an instant upgrade on Sterling.

I’m hoping we get all our rookie mistakes out of our system this and last season.  Team gaining experience in real time.

Plenty of positives amid all the usual negatives.

Jackson, Mudryk, Gusto, Cole, Gallagher and to a certain extent Caicedo looking like we may well have half a team.

I would put in disasi as long as you don’t play him in a stopper role or in a back 3. Also we got to be fair to Enzo - not his best game but he is class.. we need a fit CB and I think Mudryk and Jackson should be bench options for us in this line up.

10 minutes since final whistle and I'm still thinking we'll find a way to drop points.

Involvement in Newcastle first goal aside I thought Gusto was excellent and Caciedo much I proved. Palmer again showed he is our class act up front. Jackson put in a good shift too.

Tonight's car crashes were Sterling and Enzo

If we could somehow swap our marvellous ability for finding quality well priced right backs to strikers we would win everything,  forever....

Happy for the win, it would have been tragic if we hadn't won after that early goal that I couldn't even imagine happening.

Newcastle is an underrated team, yes they have many injuries but it takes a good team to win against them and hopefully the squad will have a real boost of confidence after today, confidence alone can carry wins in the future.

not much time for them. Like Leeds they think they should be top of the pile because of their so called glorious past and huge following. Their cup final was against PSG . I would have been spitting mad if we'd not taken all three points tonight. How many goals is that for jackson now?

Seems like Sterling has lost his confidence, I'd rather see Mudryk starting.

Think we were overdoing the game management when we went 3-1 up and stopped attacking them

3 players I don't want to see in the first team next season are: Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling and Mark Cucurella

Never thought I'd say this but Jackson seems to be getting better ::ChELSeAFaN::

Good result. We don't make it easy for ourselves but I put it down to lack of experience and maturity given the young squad we have.

6th or 7th is definitely there for the taking if we go on a proper run. I'm hoping we can end the season with some real momentum that can launch us for next season.

They always seem to make it harder for themselves! Comfortably 3-1 up and then Cinderella, who I thought generally had a very good game, gets creamed outside the box, and then we end up trying to see the game out without Newcastle getting a draw!

Anyway, mustn't moan, 3 points, good goals and it looks like we are improving somewhat slowly!

A win is a win, some nice goals there. The quality of the game is pretty average, felt like 2 teams lingering around mid table with not that much to play for. At 3:1, we should be cruising or go a bit harder to put the 4th past them, instead the energy level went down ( as usual), passing went stray, and somehow with 5 to go a draw looked on the card. A positive nevertheless, scored some goals and there are some signs of some combinations developing.

We won a second half that in itself was good and unusual.  Personally feel the criticism of Cucu is way overdone. For the most part he had a good game but that one error and really it was a little unlucky that it lead to a goal but full credit for the shot.

However i cant understand why Gallagher played all game when  clearly not at his best. He could have been subbed after 55 minutes to advantage.

Mudryck's goal was a belter. Love to see a few more of them.

This felt like a six pointer in the sense that we would either be able to stay in touch with the Europa spots, or be totally cut adrift in midtable. So that felt like a big 3 points, even if we did make harder work of it than we should have done.

Looking on the positive side we managed to get a win despite adding 2 more first teamers to the injury list since the Brentford game. Palmer and Gusto were excellent. Jackson had a good game, and we even got a promising cameo from Mudryk. For the first time this season the league table shows that we have won more games than we have lost. We still need to put together a solid run of wins in our last 11 league games to have a chance of one of the European spots. But there is some hope.

Don’t think people booing him has helped…genius move that.

Doesn't help when he acts like he couldn't give a flying f**k on the pitch does it? Stop smirking every time you give the ball away or miss a chance would be a great start.

I think that's a fair point about Cucurella. Gusto was pretty much as guilty for the first goal and he is getting MOTM nominations.

Good shout, in my humble opinion!

Good result, not convinced by how we played but, credit to the team as we got the three points. Some players had a good game, Gusto, Cucurella (despite the mistake that led to their second, he had a good game), Caicedo, Palmer (what a player!), Jackson and Mudryck. Still, I saw us too disjointed and the half time talks must be so boring that every single time the players come back to the pitch sleepy. Anyway, a good win, three points on the bag and beautiful goals from both teams. And it didn't rain @CaitlinCFC!

What irks me about him now is, he never seems to be in the bloody box attacking the danger zone... sort of hovers around the edge of the box or outside it even when someone else is running their arse off to get the ball in there for someone, anyone, to finish it off!

We win those and we could be sitting pretty at 6th or 7th depending on the results of those around us

At least the next league game isn’t until end of month, which gives some players time to come back from injury such as Nkunku. I think Reece James is supposed to be back too

I think Cucurella was absolutely dreadful. Every time he got the ball in the first half Newcastle pressed him because he couldn't handle it. Then in the second half Gallagher ended up having to babysit him.

When we scored the 3rd I wanted Cucurella hooked for either Gilchrist or Acheampong (with Gusto moving over to the left), because I thought the 2 goal cushion would ease the pressure on the youngster coming on, and realistically we'd be no more defensively solid with Cucurella on the pitch anyway (as evidenced by their 2nd goal).

That's enough negativity though, great result, some really good performances, let's keep it up!
