I've always wondered how good this guy actually is. He has a good amount of goals to his game, but is he just another Lacazette?

Imo he is the second most talented Canadian footballer about, behind Alfoso Davies. Ceiling is less, but is more consistent.

Anyway he is untested at the very highest level. He is a hard worker, two footed and can play in several attacking positions. I'd like him here, and likely to owners see him as a possible way to make more revenue from Canada.

I don't believe we will sign him though. He is becoming a bit like Hulk, linked to him every year.

He's been around for a couple of years now, so we won't be able to afford his wages. Can't see this one either.

I don't think that will be an issue. David is looking for a opportunity and there are bot a lot of takers. He would fit in to our wage structure no issues imo.

I just don't think we are actually interested and are floating around know names to manipulate the fan base again when we end up with just cheap youth players.

We already spent the billion the owners contractually had to invest after buying the club. Now they can work the system the make themselves bucket loads of money, just like the glazers have.

84 goals in 183 Lille games, he has one year left on his deal with the Ligue 1 club. One year left - so he must be cheap right?

David plays mainly as a second striker or attacking mid. We are not really short of players in this area. He is not a winger. Not sure about this deal at all. I don't dislike the player, but i wonder why we are interested in him. He is okay. A squad player. An under study for Nkunku? If/When Nkunku is injured.

What makes you think he plays as a second striker? Whenever i've watched Lille (not often) he's always lead the line.

Apparently only making around 30k euros a week currently, i imagine we could easily quadruple that and get him.

Because that is the position he plays. He is 5ft 9" and he is not a leading the line type of striker. He plays a similar role to that of Nkunku.

Jan on football therapy put the estimated fee around 30mill, or just under.

Like I said previous fee and wages are not an issue, I just don't think we want him. If we did, we could easily get him.

That might have been the case in the past but this season he's lead the line for Lille as a lone striker all season and done well there

I am not sure leading the line is a phrase that Maresca is particularly interested in. I think he wants a guy that will drop in, run interference (as our friends from over the way like to say), whilst allowing the likes of Palmer, Nkunku and others to go beyond and score the goals. If the striker can pitch in with 10 a season but have double or more g/a with assists, then i think Maresca will be more than happy. Personally i would like to see Guirassy as i think he can fulfil both roles adequately and for the cost, even with a diminishing sell on, still represents good value. He'd want a competitive salary though, so we're out.

Then we should play Nkunku as the no.9 in that scenario.  Or we play Chukwuemeka or Palmer in the Kai Havertz role?  Or we can go with a more 'traditional' false 9?  IF we are looking for shorter and less leading the line type of striker then we should go after Enzo's bestie Julian Alvarez? There is a lot of interference running around my brain :0) --- Just don't See Jonathan David as a solution for any of our options here.  He has two first names and which is cool, other than that I feel there are better striker options elsewhere.

I think that there is a good chance that he does just this.

Play Lavia deep with Caicedo and Enzo as 8's working around him, with Palmer right, Mudryk or Sterling left and Nkunku up top. I am not saying what he should or shouldn't do but looking at some of the formations i have seen of him, i could easily see this shape occurring.

Not sure having a first name as a surname is that cool actually :laugh2:

If it was anyone other than Ornstein who reported it, then I’d agree with you. He’s been absolutely spot on with his Chelsea reporting the last 2 years.

I haven’t seen a lot of David but he does appear to be an ideal potential signing in regards to age, salary, upside, and ability. A nice combination of it all.

A goal every second game in France averaged over 4 seasons for a 24 year old is not be sneered at. Could make a decent alternative to Jackson

Hey I would happily be wrong about this, but I just don't believe we are truly interested. I think we have asked about him, even spoke to his agent, as reported, but don't think we will go through with making an offer.

I could be wrong but he doesn't strike me as the type of striker that would suit Enzo's system. I don't think he's much better than Jackson either to be honest.

He would suit the system. 2 footed, good control and link up. Better than Nico? Yet to be proven or not.

Nini on Blue lions TV reported David wants a move to the Prem, and that West Ham are interested.

Now I could see that, would help West Ham having him and Kudus in the same side.

Top scorer in Ligue 1 this season and can probably get him for pennies with his contract running out.

I wonder why no big club has ever been in for him before ?

Doesn't get injured, plus a decent goal return in literally every season he has played ...

A goal every two games in Ligue 1 is decent enough for someone to take a punt surely ?

Utd, Arsenal and us have been linked with him pretty much every year since 2020, it is strange he's never made the move. With his contract up it seems like there's no downside to the transfer.

Maybe all these teams have scouted him and come to the same conclusion - he’s crap
