That didn't mean Chelsea first team. That is what us fans want naturally. Club aims to profit also. This hasn't changed that much. Now we have a duo of Sporting directors that have made name to themselves of finding great talents. Boehly and co have given them the license to buy young talents. I think that is something new and something that we should do. I think there is a structure in the likes of: Best outcome: this 17 year old becomes the new face of Chelsea in 3 years. Carries much higher value than what we paid for. Good outcome: this 17 year old sure is talented but not Chelsea first teamer. If there is no pathway to first team, sell him and make profit (e.g. Omari Hutchinson). Okay outcome: this 17 year old is talented but can't see a path to the first team, loan out to Strasbourg or other affiliate club (Portugal, Brazil -sides coming up) and hype up to at least make small profit. Bad outcome: this 17 year old was talented but hasn't progressed like we hoped, sell for loss or release. If you look at percentages and give every option 25% you have much better change of making profit than not. Much depends on scouting and the Sporting directors. I think we need to move on from the idea that there is only first team. If you only think about that in isolation you are going to be frustrated many times. I personally like to think about the club level as well. Games are not coming that often so I have more fan-stuff to think about non-match days. And that would work if you were the Qatari group or RB with many teams in different leagues, but our owners only have Strasbourg to look at for loaning players, and they are not that willing to be the B team of Chelsea. And, we’ve got more youngsters on our hands than teams willing to take them on loan. Also, look how well that’s worked for talents like Santos or Casadei. On the other hand, we buy KDH, who is not a youngster and won’t be going on loan, while we need a reliable goal keeper, left back, left winger and centre forward (which I hope was addressed when getting Guiu) and none are being addressed at the moment. I know it’s early in the window, but they seem more preoccupied with getting the next talent irrespective of where they’ll be playing or their position. In summary, so far I don’t see a plan.

Nottingham Forrest owner and Olympiacos is it? trade players between clubs for profit. Seems to be a plan and working for the past few years there.
July 3, 20242 yr Wasn't there an article about a third club being bought. Advanced stages of the purchase apparently. I didn't even open the article thinking ill come back to it but forgot. But I agree....we need a third club, fast, and I hope they are working on it. I'm sure they are tbh.

This...I'd be very surprised if everyone we bought is meant for the first team, even the young ones. And every now and then they'll uncover a gem. Probability/etc... I've mentioned this before...a player from one of the best academies will be highly regarded regardless of being a first teamer or not.
July 3, 20242 yr Oh...and this guy, back on topic...lol I think this guy will make it though from what I'm hearing from everyone. I honestly can't wait for preseason...need to find the schedule and how to watch the matches.

If we want to supplement the first team squad through signings then that needs finance, one way is buying and selling players. We can use our position and situation as a club to do that, were still a very viable option for a lot of players no matter what the doom and gloom mongers like to say. So going forward I expect to see 2 or 3 at the very most first team players coming in during the transfer windows, with youth players being traded (its a horrible term but apt) to pay for these. You gotta blame the owners for all this nonsense surely?

July 27, 20241 yr The current rules are making it more profitable for teams to sell off their academy players and bring in players from abroad. Fortunately we have an academy that regularly churns out players who end up playing at a high level whereas most of the rest of the 'big 6' churn out players that get sold to league 1 teams for a packet of crisps. The rules are just arbitrary, don't make any sense and they're making it more difficult for academy products to break into the first team. They need binning off.

July 27, 20241 yr Looked bright so far I have read. Maybe when he has Palmer rather than Sterling, Mudryk and Madueke as his providers he might get some goals. And after that Paez and Willian, maybe then 20plus goals!
July 28, 20241 yr Guiu...didn't stop running in and out of shot, moving defenders tonight against celtic but no one gave him that killer pass to finish. I agree...can't wait for palmer and the rest to get back.

Jackson is as far as general forwards go. That's it. Caicedo is hardly that player on a regular basis. Enzo F? Will he team mates even let him back in?

And I don't believe I'm saying this but I'm hoping 🙏 caicedo and lavia would be a better partnership than what we've seen so far. In rgds to Enzo, I think they will bud. Noni was quoted in the media (one small mention at the bottom of an article, as the media loves us sooo much) that they are blowing up the reaction of the other players. They were pissed with him at the time but he said the guys are fine now. I hope thats true. Edited July 28, 20241 yr by Simplymo

But for me those are the only 2 that deserve a positive mention if any were given in rgds to this game. * and sanchez when he stayed in goal, and that lovely save in the first half, but ignoring the rest of his game.

I believe I read Enzo, Gallagher (if not sold by then) and Cole will stay at Cobham and not join the tour.

Don't they need to learn marescas system too? Or are they worried about those guys getting injured?

Fitness work at Cobham vs fitness work out there. Either way not going to be used in games.

I guess he's good enough to not need too much help with marescas system, especially if he played under him in the man city development squad too. Edited July 28, 20241 yr by Simplymo
