axman2526 Posted November 11, 2024 Author Posted November 11, 2024 (edited) Need to defend better on those back post overloads. Gusto not watching his man, our right winger (think was Noni at the time) not tracking back at all. Bottom line for me, of this run of 4 games we gave a good account of ourselves vs the best side in the league at the mo, Liverpool, and lost because of two stupid mistakes. We beat a good Newcastle side. However we blew it with a sh*t display vs a rank United side and should have beaten an Arsenal side on their knees, who could not even muster 1 goal vs Newcastle or Inter away cause they were not given a goal on a silver plate like we gave them. We were not bold enough, we did not go at these sides who lacked any form of confidence. That is on us, on Maresca and the players. We should have 4 more points, and be level with City. Given this I expect we are set up to "not be beat" again when we go to Villa and Spurs. Otherwise the other 9 of the next 11 PL sides are all mid table or lower, so we better go at them and get all 3 points, each game. "Need to defend better on those back post overloads" it has been the same for 4 seasons. I don't understand it, the opposition has 2 (or more) completely unmarked players on the left or right side. Not one single team in the Premier league has this happen, only us. Why can't we fix it? CFCCAN, axman2526 and just 2 1

There is a rumour circulating from outside Chelsea that Palmer does not shine against top opposition funnily enough I thought the same of Haaland last season. Whatever we need more creative players than Palmer and Neto offers that though we also need more, what has happened to Madueke? I saw a match earlier when an opposition player ishoulder bumped Madueke early and stopped his runs as he could not set himself for his initial dribble, Has this unsettled him? Agree, Neto is definitely an improvement over Sterling (lazy) n Mudyrk (Mudyrk). And the team is clearly better, Is neto a game changer though? Defensively very solid, good runner.
Simplymo Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 The issue that they need to work out is the wingers and #8 (Enzo jnr when on the field) need to step up and bypass palmer in a way. If he's occupying or being marked out by 3 or 4 players then that should leave tons of space for wingers/#8 to bypass him and set up the attacks for jacko/guiu/etc.

Palmer better on the right, Sancho, Noni and Jackson better on the bench... we really have much better options. Sancho is probably going to cost us CL footy, gives away at least one goal every match. Poor bloke. As if wasting years of his career at Utd wasn't bad enough, he's signed for his boyhood club and he's being blamed for goals while not even in the squad! Shushing fans in front of the Matthew Harding after his (offside) goal, next-level Courtois sh*t that! I wish Reece, Kova or Azpi had scored that 21 goal now! Apparently, he'd be happier if Arsenal win the Champions League, good luck with that, f**kwit! Think it's some sort of temper tantrum over the minority of online fans treatment of him. IIRC he wasn't booed in this fixture last season, the general aimimosity started when he celebrated the goals at The Emirates. Edited November 12, 2024 by Argo

If he stays fit I think he'll become a key component to the club. I see lots in his game like Willian and Pedro. I really enjoyed the fact his goal came with a lampard type shot from outside the box... slammed it home. I've forgotten what celebrating one of those was like. I thought his performance was a really big positive against Arsenal. Settling in well - long may it continue. Simplymo, Bob stark and Backbiter 2 1

We might not be the best yet but at least this is better than Potterball or Pochball 'The prof will be in the pudding' as they say....while he has reduced the number of players to work with there are still a few that need binning, KDH for a start (never understood that signing) and a few favourites that he needs to stop playing week in week out when they produce sh*te performances. He's not fully utilizing the squad he has. The harmony of the squad is already beginning to show signs of fracturing with Nkunku and Felix, and no doubt a couple more feeling the same way. He needs to change the starting line up the PL XI every now and then and not bring players on that can win you games with minutes to go and piss everyone off. He had more than enough chances to go and win the games against Utd and Arsenal had he the balls to do so with the squad of players he had on the bench. My verdict is still out on him TBH. We might be in 3rd but there again had we not scored the goals we have, we could be mid-table on the same number of points. Sexyfootball 1
