loz
Take your pick Mikel for me. The only player in the first half who actually seemed to be able to pass the ball consistently to a team mate and in the second half (other than his poor challenge) was always looking for the ball and breaking down the breaks that Cluj had. dkw
definately mikel, controlled the midfield brilliantly as usual. he really makes the centre of the pitch his own. one rash challenge aside he did everything fantastically, other than his shooting obviously. now, if only we could merge him and belletti into one player... Chippy
Mikel for me as well, looked very assured out there, Alex had a decent game as well.
Tim
Mikel for me too. Was at the heart of everything good in defense and attack (apart from shooting!). Edited December 9, 2008 by Tim
PloKoon13
I assume many other people will vote for the Drog, so I'll show Alex some love.
loz
I assume many other people will vote for the Drog, so I'll show Alex some love. I wouldn't have thought so - he took his goal superbly but I wouldn't say he did enough to warrant a MOTM award.
bjd
Im gonna go for Deco. Have been very critical of him these past few weeks but i thought his passing and movement was top notch tonight and he outshone Ballack in that respect. Mikel did well, but im sick to death of his pot shots.
4EVERCHELSEA
Mikel. only player who looked half on the ball. Worst player... Ashley cole or Boswinga.

goose
I wouldn't be the biggest Drogba fan but he gets my vote tonight. After he came on I thought we suddenly started to look dangerous in attack again. Something we've missed over the last number of matches. Mikel, Alex and Deco had good games and JC did ok in flashes. AAF
Drogba for me. Before he came on, there was no aura of confidence and penetration. A few times, when some players missed their chances they threw their arms in the air and looked disgusted and suffering. When Drogba came on, everything changed. He lifted the team. A series of chances went through him, which made the team look solid and confident. Cluj also started to look worried, when Drogba was in their box. Basically, Drogba transformed a passing, but not confident and toothless side into a determined and dangerous team.

The Moos
Mikel for me. But I'm getting a bit tired of him making stupid challenges. Alex was good too, though he missed the header when Cluj scored. Drogba looked good when he came on too.
andy
Also I have to say .. Drogba and Joe cole Combo in Europe yet again.. just awesome.. how we miss those too when we need to nick an important goal.
byatt
I went for Joey after much thought between him, Mikel and Deco
ozboy
I Joe Cole looked well short of match sharpness, gave the ball away several times and didn't score when he should have. Obviously great to have him back though. Alex I thought was at fault for the Cluj goal. Mikel was good and could have had my vote, but I went for Drogs. Just great to see him on the field. All of a sudden we look powerful as well as pretty.
Nibs
Mikel was tidy and had a decent game but his shooting just gets worse and worse. Is there any point him even thinking about having a shot? Thought Ballack was dreadful. Lost count of the times he gave the ball away. MOTM for me goes to Drogba. He looked fit and hungry and up for it and if that's how he stays that's the Drogba we need. just
Drogba. That finish was superb. A truly wonderful goal by the most hated centre-forward in Chelsea's history.
ethicalstrategy
It is tough to choose as no-one really excelled. Mikel was tidy, saved a certain goal and made one. It was great to see Drogba back but I can't give him MoM for 25 mins. My gut feeling, particularly based on the first half was Ballack. He looked determined and up for it and was the only one driving us forward. I was very surprised to see him being slaughtered by some on here. Although Ballack was getting a lot of ball and always making himself available, his distribution was shocking. As someone else said, with Lamps out last night, you'd expect Ballack to have a massive game and he didn't. And as for Mikel making a goal????? Think you'll find that was Joe. Oh, I forget..............................!!!

Oh, I forget..............................!!! mikel did have a big part in the goal, he took the ball of a cluj player, brought it froward very quickly and chipped the ball beautifully to jeoy, who then chipped the ball equally as beautifully to drogba. I've studiously avoided saying anything about Joe's performance last night on the basis that if you can't find anything nice to say then it's best to say nothing! Mikel made the goal with his pass to Joe. (It was a good pass though from Joe to Didier)
