Has Chelsea ever stood in the way if one of our players has wanted to go and represent their country? I'm afraid that if Ghana asks him, Essien will go.

Essien will have to change his game. He won't be able to run up and down for 90 mins like before his knee injuries or as Ramires does now.
I think his best chance to get back to the first team is to master the Makelele role. He had already played as DM and did well there, the main argument against it was that it limits his game by taking out one of his mains assests, his marauding runs forward. However sadly this won't be the case anymore.
Can we maybe get Maka back as a coach to help him out? And all the youngsters in that position while we're at it, that would be a dream addition to the coaching staff.

When essien first came he was such a powerful runner and was so athletic...if he could get back to that level then it would be fantastic. Realistically though, i cant see how he will ever recover that power/drive/stamina and tbh i never rate his passing ability. He plays far to many sideways passes which is something we need to do less of and with the exception of a few wonder shots was never a consistent goal threat or creative force.
I am not sure he would even get in the team now.

The bison needs a rapturous roar when he comes back.
Lets hope he is stronger than ever and fired up

Would love to see Essien back, he is one of my favourite chelsea players of all time.
When at his best, he was the best in that position and is unstoppable. He can create, score and defend.
Can't wait to see him back in action to replace that sh** bag meireles
