  1. I think I saw a quote today that Harry reckons he's two players short of being serious contenders for the prem. Delusional or what. Could have added old 'arry to your "Honorary Scouser of the Year' thread Loz.
  2. Here we prefer to sympathise with our Premier League colleges rather than gloat at their demise. Rat-munching f**ks.

According to Wikipedia John W Henry was worth $860m in 2006. Considering the credit crunch and Liverpools massive debts can he really afford to do much with the club.

After the defeat by Blackpool, Hodgson was seen driving down the M6 at 120 mph, on a mobile phone and not wearing his seat belt. He'd do anything for 3 points.
  5. Went for 3-0 but think I have underestimated. Should have went for 4-0.
  6. I think Ramires will come good. City give him a big test on Saturday as they were so physical but he will get used to that and come up to speed. As for Bluemoons comparison with Yaya Toure, I think he was made for the Premiership and that is exactly how he played in Spain so does not need to adapt his game. A bit like Verria.
  7. I thoughthe was OK on late night radio when he done 'The Black Hole' but on MOTD2 he is embarrassing.
  8. What impressed me by the lad in the match against Zillina is that he did not appear overawed, too eager or too keen. This was reaffirmed in the match against the bar-codes. Josh looks like he belongs on the same pitch as our seasoned professionals and I can see him getting loads of play time this season.
  9. Cole for me just ahead of essien.
  10. Yeah Maddoo, had to do a fair bit of retrieving from the river myself. The hall was the McCrum Institute, named after the Mill owner, don't know if it's been used anymore for anything as I hadn't been through there for a few years. Don't think there's any football played out there now since Milford Everton changed name and moved to Armagh. Sammy Douglas was a great worker for the Mid Ulster and I see they play for a trophy now in his name.

  12. The penalty kick was first thought of by the son of a wealthy mill owner, Willie McCrum from Milford, a small village in County Armagh a couple of miles where I was brought up. In the late 1800's football matches were generally a 'free for all' in which old scores could be settled and cases of manslaughter were not unusual. Willie, who played goals, thought that a penally kick would maybe solve the mayhem and in 1890 it was taken on board by the IFA. The IFA were persuaded to bring it in front of the IFB (International Football Board). At first the idea was scorned, especially by the English Press who named it 'the Irishman's Motion' and in a meeting in London in June 1890 it was adjourned for one year. One reason was that it would curb the players' freedom of expression and secondly It was unthinkable that a player should deliberately kick an opponent. The following year it became Rule 13 in The Laws of the Game I started playing football as a teenager with Milford Everton on the same pitch that Willie McCrum played his football on. At one end a missed penally would see the ball end up in a fast flowing river which run directly behind. The other end was a steep run up hill with the goal-line at least 2 foot (60 cm for you younger readers) higher than the penally spot.
  13. Whyever would you buy a 23 year old just to loan him back. 23 year olds have to be able to cut it either in the first eleven or as back up.
  14. I think City will do a little better than that and it will take 3rd. Between Arse and spuds for 4th.
  15. Bet you just kicked the cat though.

  17. First I think. Biggest challenge to our crown are the two Manchester teams. Arsenal to drop out of the top 4.

Like him, thought he had a good season last year and my thoughts at the end of the season where that if we were to sign a Premiership player it would have been Modric or Benayoun. Would have preferred Modric but that's mostly based on age. Also think he is the type of player who will have no problem playing into mid 30's and would expect him to be fairly regular in the starting line up. Welcome and good luck Yossi
  19. Like most very surprised at the Walcott decision. Most certainly the correct one in my opinion. Good on J Cole getting in. I can hear Wenger whinging already.
  20. Must disagree with you here. Surely the most overrated Arsenal player since Peter Marinello. Sure he has pace to burn but that is useless if you run down blind alleys and pick wrong options. As far as Beckham coaching him, I would have thought that he has had top class coaching from a very early age. I agree about the hat trick almost two years ago, it was top class but he has been piss poor since. For teams that do their homework on him he will be hit early and go missing the rest of the match, he just does not look as if he has the balls for a fight. Of course this is only my opinion and he may well turn out to be England's player of the tournament, but I think there is a better chance of Arsenal winning a trophy next season.
  21. The fact that Walcott is anywhere near the 30 man squad shows that Capello is an idiot.
  22. Great work Loz, very interesting reading. Many Thanks
