It was unfortunate the squad he received, but to judge him based on this current squad and bringing in youth is unfair. Like you said, give him another year with a couple windows to see who he brings in and gets rid of, and then judge him based on how he performs with the players he wants.
In my eyes, based on what im hearing, hes already looking to make better signings and already disposed of a lot of deadwood in the summer, and I think the trend will carry on this month and the coming summer as well

If it was a summer window I wouldn't be all that surprised of we were on the market for a left back, two centre halves and a goalkeeper. However, as its January, we won't be doing that level of business. I'd have Kepa sold in an instance of we could get a good replacement. I just don't think he is a top class goalkeeper. Far too average at too many of the basics and no defence is going to be confident with him behind them, especially not a shaky one like ours.

Spot on about Christensen circa 2017-18 and his mistakes in every game after Barca, that cost us conceded goals and dropped points. He is just mentally weak on top of being physically weak. Any time he goes against physically imposing center forward, he's in trouble. He's more accurate passer than Zouma (who isn't) but he isn't a ball playing CB either, and he carries zero threat at set pieces, yet to score a single goal. Very limited player, whose flaws were overlooked for a long time because he was the first youngster to break into the team after a very long wait.

Hardly a reason to buy Zaha. Besides, one can argue Van Dijk has been working his way up, whereas Zaha has been working his way down.

I don't like to be fickle, but this game has really changed my view on him, that was a shocking performance, I think even Alonso would've played better today. A sad reality but maybe we do need a new LB, I thought this season Emerson was going to prove a point. 

Yeah fair enough, I just thought that after James' performance against Zaha the other week, he would be prove useful against the City attack. But Azpi's experience is also key so im not overly bothered about it.

Oh for sure yeah, I mean I definitely don't think we should sell Kante when he's one of the best midfielders in the world. Out of the midfielders we have currently in our first team, Barkley needs to be sold as he just isn't upto it. RLC seems really injury prone so im just unsure on his future now - But when hes playing at his best, hes a beast.
We are definitely stacked in midfield, even with quality youth prospects coming through like Gilmour and Gallagher, not to mention Mount currently (though hes fallen off in recent weeks)
As you said, defence needs a bit of work, and some quality wingers to replace the outgoing Pedro and Willian

I just dont want us falling into the trap of spending big on a player who we're not even sure can perform at the highest level. I mean you dont need to look that far into the past to see how awful some of these signings have been, and us dropping 70m just seems like too much.
CM isnt even somewhere we need to strengthen anyway, like you said there are definitely other priority positions. I would say our first concern should be a world class CB, and next a world class winger like Sancho perhaps. Striker next, though Im happy with how Tammy is performing at the moment.

I reckon he’ll be living in Zaha’s head rent free for the rest of the weekend, he’ll be waking up having nightmares of Reece tonight. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a player throw his toys out the pram quite like that due to getting nothing out their opposition, made me laugh!

There's no point in being the CL if you don't want to go on a run. Constantly thinking about qualifying for next year's competition is futile.

I was there last night too, which stand were you sitting at? I was at the shed end lower, and the atmosphere was probably one of the best I have been to in the 2nd half.
Granted, things were a little quiet in the first half, but that was probably at the disappointment of conceding 3 sh*tty goals

With all due respect i was there last night and the atmosphere was incredible. Probably one of the best i've experienced at the bridge in a long time.
