Our defenders aren't world class but they are also not bottom 4 level the manager needs to sort it out. 
 
Like I said before even if you bring in better defenders if the tactical framework is still not correct those new defenders will be looking like pub players also.

Alonso is a great option to have, easily one of the beet goal scorers in the squad and we need goals.

The more I watch him the less I think hes a right back, or defender of any kind. He, like Alonso, maybe would flourish as a wing back in a 5 but he has no positional understanding or discipline. He looks a hell of a prospect as he has a fantastic technical level, pace and size. But I` not sure where he should play.

Lampard simply got a tactical hiding from Chris Wilder who is a better manager. Every player on Sheffield United knew their role where they need to be and what they need to do. Ours look like 11 players who turned up at the park individually and decided to play together. That's a coaching issue as bad our defenders are they are not that bad.

Frank chopping and changing the defence imo is part of the reason we have a sh*t back line. There’s no chemistry between the defenders and it always looks like one of them is looking to the other in confusion whenever we concede.

Frank is being taken to school tactically. Wilder is getting absolutely everything out of what he's got in his disposal, Frank is a bit clueless.

Why are people blaming the players, there has been a tactical defensive issue from day one and it hasn't changed one bit.

Swap Sheffield defender's with ours and see if the performance they are putting in now carrier's over to us.
If you don't fix the tactical issue first you will end up exactly the same place.
