Playoff Final 1988
Was at the game too, saw loads of people from my old manor down there. I was in the west stand right at the back and could hardly see a thing. managed to get in just before duries goal, (in the 7th minute if im not mistaken).Like someone has already mentioned the game was very flat after that. I dont know if anybody else remembers this but about 20 minutes before the end a chant of 'chelsea chelsea chelsea etc' reverberated around the ground which sent a shiver up my spine. Anyway we know what happened next. The overriding memory of that season is that you couldnt see it coming in 87, but 26 games without a win was shocking especially as the team was a decent one. Delby said the boro fans goaded our lot but i think it would have kicked off anyway. What got me was that the next day the papers said that there were only 40, 000 there?.Needless to day like nibs it was one of the worst days of my chelsea supporting life.

The headhunters?
They might be some Chelsea fans version of hero's but not me. They were racist or behaved in a racist manner (just in case their supporters get too sensitive) and yes I saw them in action.regardless of the embellishments of McIntyre. What next they were just misunderstood ?
-
Chelsea now and in the 80's?
one thing that stands out for me is that in the early 80's there was a lot of racial abuse going on and that includes at our black players! nowadays you hardly ever hear it thank god.

Steve Clarke resigns - back to the Bridge?
for me no thanks. Man of honour and all that stuff, but like scott harris said he's had his time.

Random Rumours
'chelsea quality' or standard. two of the most overused terms. I mean how can someone know for sure if a player has what it takes to be a good squad player, which is the priority for me. I wonder if some of the know-all`s out there who spout all the chelsea quality bs are just after a squad of galcticos, whatever the cost.In regard to hoilett and moses, i agree they would both be better prospects than malouda and kalou. they both have pl experience, so you could forget the 'theyre not ready' bs as well, but still young enough to learn more,(example of a player learning on the job- mikel, was rough as when he first started out, but had some chelsea fans bending over backwards defending him with the whole he`s still young and learning line).Saw moses terrorize bacary sagna two weeks ago, and hoilett for me is slightly better. if theyre going to be free agents why not take a punt on either one.

MOTM vs Barcelona (H)
for me its the same when people say ferreira always has bale in his pocket. BS, they both need help from their teammates on their respective wings. In this case, who better than a running machine like ramires to help you out. That said I think cole played alves well when isolated. As for motm, it would probably be easier to say who didnt play well, and on this very short list guess what no meireles!,.In my opinion, mata had a poor game, and mikel wasnt exactly crash hot either.did you see when he got barged off the ball by the smallest player on the pitch, nearly causing us to concede a goal?. His biggest fans couldnt even use the 'he played badly because he had to cover and carry his fellow midfielders' excuse that gets trotted out every time he has a bad game, because they ALL played well, while he for me was average.

spend big or spend wisely?
yeah and possibly get charged more for going to matches as a consequence.

MOTM vs Wigan
i know what you mean.saint frank scores a penalty and all of a sudden an average game turns into a good game, funny that, however i dont want to turn this into a lampard thread

MOTM vs Villa
imo he was found wanting by albrighton, who incidentally has given us trouble before, not at all a bad player. I would love to give motm to mr towers,(sorry, spoke spanish for 4 years) but i think mata, and believe it or not mikel had slightly better games for me.

Start of a new dawn
thats all well and good, but with ffp we`re not necessarily going to be able to spend our way out of trouble are we. the squad needs a revamp we all agree, and while no chelsea fan wants to be second best(i`ve been more than content to finish above arsenal since 04 for example), its looking imo more likely by the week. man utd took a step back to move forward when they were hopelessly outmatched by us for two years.

Sensible thoughts on who is going?
going by the previous years, youre probably right, and anyway how much would we get for the players that the majority seem to want shot of?however for me the players you think will stay,i wouldnt have any of them in the starting eleven (yes including saint frank!) if we had got modric imagine how much bitching he would have done then?. we would still have a little bit of credit in terms of world prestige, and if the mickey mousers can get suarez, surely we could get one or two world class players (especially in the midfield or wing areas) or even play some of our loanees, (imo its that serious).something has to change.
-
This one's for the old guard ..
would have taken saint frank off before he was found lacking on the nasri goal, way too slow all night imo. i guess it was a case of after the lord mayors show, not just for him,but for cole and drogba.

Player power (merged)
now this is what i consider well said. I`ll go further and state that i hope one or two 'legends' are gone at the end of the season to. why should they always get away with it.

Most disliked ex Blue?
i agree with you on gallas when it comes to his football.terry and gallas made me feel more secure than terry and lord percy. like you i dont particularly hate ex players although there were some players that i was gutted we signed, but i`ll keep those to myself.

AVB - who's behind him?

Is Ashley Cole worrying anybody else?
Another nightmare from the great ashley cole.on another website someone said that nathan dyer was rubbish. well if he is what does that say about the 'best left back in the world'. even some of his fans are struggling to find excuses now. At the start of the season he had some shaky performances, so the 'he`s tired one doesnt wash imo. Then there`s the old chestnut about his chronic ankle problem, two words john terry. Surely there isnt anyone out there who thinks cole has had a better season than a guy who`s got more than enough to worry about without mentioning the race affair. If i was bertrand i would ask for a transfer.

Sunderland v Chelsea (PL) 14/01/12 KO 15:00 GMT
agree with most of that, but for me cole was all over the place (defending) and i`m not the only one. Apart from his mistake after 3 minutes, he makes a schoolboy challenge straight after our first penalty appeal and imo got away with it. imo right sided attacking players fancy it now against him, and i dont blame them, in fact he looks as shaky as bosingwa. btw if he is playing on a chronic ankle injury, it says a lot for the amount of faith they have in bertrand.

MOTM vs SUnderland
steady geezer, you`ll probably get someone telling you he`s not 'chelsea quality' next. But i concur mate, every time he got the ball i was worried. When he set up that chance after 3 minutes(yeah i know a mish*t) i thought here we go!. He turned terry beautifully in the second half, and i`m not going to get into what he did to the 'best left back in the world' at various moments. motm torres.

January business? Who's in who's out?
case in point malouda, saying that he`s ready to fight for a starting place! well seeing is believing for me, and if he does manage to get back in, will he pass to torres?
-
January business? Who's in who's out?
to quote kevin keegan "i would luv it" if this was true, they like ancellotti have had their day at the bridge imo,and as long as we have better replacements lined up (if true of course) then there wouldnt be any tears from me. That would only leave possibly drogba left of the drogba clique(i was never sure if it included essien and mikel).
-
Ramires
not as shocking as how many pepole wrote him off after a handful of appearances. One of the best bits of business the board has done imo, 18 mil for a 23 year old international. Remember kaka`s words " i believe ramires is going to be one of the world`s best midfielders'

Is the Lampard era coming to an end?
i get what youre saying spiller, and we can go round the houses on this one,but at the end of the day lampard wants to play in every game, thats his nature, and his problem.
-
Is the Lampard era coming to an end?
i think frank and you (and others like you who seem to be taking it personally) have to get your heads round the fact that he wont and cant play every game anymore, however great he is and has been for us. to be honest i`m glad we have a coach with the balls to rest him when we`re winning, unlike the previous coach. Lampards attention to his profession is legendary as in working after hours on his stamina, and shooting with his left foot for example.however regardless of how fit and in form he is, imo there have been times where the game has passed him by. as for a 'growing agenda' would you prefer bloggers to say that he should play every game ? if so you can count me out.

MOTM vs Newcastle
no it was cole, close to the half way line.
