  1. If we got a goal somehow, we could drive on and win. But we're so s**t in the final 3rd that it's hard to see it happening. We've got to change something. I'd put Anelka & Kalou on. They can't do any worse than the likes of Torres and Zhirkov are doing.
  2. Both sides have been poor, but United have been less poor. Chelsea look absolutely clueless on the ball and resorting mostly long balls to Drogba, which Ferdinand & Vidic have easily dealt with. Despite all that we could easily have been level at the break. I'm hoping for a big second half performance, but not expecting it.
  3. I'm not confident, but I wasn't confident ahead of the game a few weeks back or the City game and we got the results we needed. If the team goes for it with confidence I think we can win over the 2 legs. But if we sit back and try to not lose, we'll be knocked out. It's gonna be tight, and it's gonna be very nervy.
  4. Well to be fair to Hughes, it isn't his job to develop our young players. If he doesn't feel Kakuta is better than what he has already then he's obviously not going to play him.
  5. What's wrong with what Joe said? Forget the rubbish written by the journalist and just read Joe's exact words, "He's very much like Drogba. But Andy's only 22 and, while we all know what a cracking player Didier is, he wasn't playing at this level at that age. There's still a lot of developing for Andy to do." Don't see anything wrong with that.
  6. Delighted for them, well deserved.
  7. Considering it's Messi, I would say he did mean it.
  8. The mention of Heskey reminds me of the Wigan game a few years back when he scored a last minute equaliser. We could have gone into that last game 2 points clear instead of level with inferior goal difference. Thank you Myles for reminding me of all that

I won't lose any sleep if he doesn't come. Looks like he has bags of talent, but looks a bit of a prat too.

When was the last time we had a kit for more than 1 season? Looks alright though.

    I just did it and this was the outcome;
  12. Well it's already been pointed out, they're far too negative against the big teams. By setting the team up like that, Mancini is essentially telling the players that they're not good enough to go out there and beat them. The biggest difference Mourinho made when he replaced Ranieri was he instilled belief in the players. He made them believe they were good enough to compete with, and beat, Man Utd & Arsenal. God help the rest of the league if they ever get a manager who can get things right.
  13. He was never one of my favourite players. He never developed into the player we all hoped he would. But he did make a contribution to our title wins, and I'm thankful to him for that. I'm sorry that it hasn't worked out for him at Liverpool, but I can't say I'm surprised.
  14. Luiz for me. Superb defensively and got a crucial goal.
  15. Finally, 1 year on, common sense has prevailed. I always felt that it wasn't what Capello wanted. In my opinion he bowed to pressure from the FA and the media. Regardless of all that though, the main thing is England have, once again, got a proper captain.
  16. Missed the start, was there booing during a minutes silence?
  17. Copenhagen fans are so loud. If I didn't know any better I'd say we were the away team.
  18. The red card was a joke to be fair to them. 1 second elapsing between the whistle and him kicking it. If Villa had been on his game tonight it could have been a lot worse for Arsenal.
  19. Yeah that's one that stands out for me. Moscow is the most obvious one. I haven't been able to watch the penalty miss since it's happened. The 2nd leg of the Champions League tie with Barca back in 2000 is another. So close to going through and in the end hammered 5-1. It took a while to get over.

    Thanks for the welcome.
  21. I went for Lamps on the basis that he got the 2 goals and provided the cross for JT. Nobody really stood out and several were alarmingly below par, particularly Bosingwa defensively. 3 points is all that matters though.

Getting that first goal is the most important thing for him right now. Once he gets it, hopefully it'll get his confidence up and then, hopefully, more goals will follow. The players around him could do more to give him better service, but he's had plenty of chances in games to get a goal and hasn't taken them. He just needs to keep plugging away and it would be great if that first goal were to come at home to City.
  23. Hi

TJB posted a topic in Newbies - Say Hello Here!
Just wanted to quickly say hello. I used to frequent the BBC 606 site but since it's gonna be closing soon (and most it's content is rubbish these days), I decided to go looking for a new place to talk football and here I am.
