Deco happy at Chelsea

Deco insists he is happy at Chelsea after showdown talks with new manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The Portugal international was expected to leave the Blues after a disappointing campaign following last summer's switch from Barcelona.

He was wanted by ex-manager Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan, but the Serie A champions were not prepared to match Chelsea's asking price.

Deco has now met with Ancelotti and insists he will stay and give his all for their cause this season.

Talks

"I have talked with the manager," explained Deco.

"We talked a lot about things, about the game, about what he thinks about the team and tactics.

"I will be here. I have a contract and I will do my best, wherever I am on the pitch."

Although Deco flourished early on last season a succession of injuries hampered the Brazilian-born star's form.

Injury free

The 31-year-old is hoping staying injury-free this time around will give him the chance to show fans what they have been missing.

"The last season was difficult for me - I had many injuries," he continued.

"You recover and get fit again and, straight after, another injury. I hope this season will be different. I'm happy to play.

"I hope I can show fans what I can do. I'm happy to be here. The club is good, the atmosphere around it is good. I like being here."

Looks like Deco is staying. Don't know about you guys but I think this is good news. Don't have to go after Pirlo anymore IMO. It also seems Carlo is the man. Everybody in the squad seems to like him. Good news!

I dont know what he earns at CFC but I bet he would struggle to get anywhere near the same amount at any other club!

No wonder hes 'happy' at Chelsea

Deadwood in my opinion

He only wants to stay because no one else wants him...

He is a small chap I expect to see him darting around Zola like.. I will give him all the encouragement from my seat if he stays but he has to work hard to gain my respect I have never had a high opinion of him, particularly before he came to us. But with Joey injured again we really need him on top form.

One thing is for sure he is no Joe Cole or Zola he need to show some heart.

Good! Could be a very important player this season. Could fit very well at two places in Ancelottis new formation as the holding midfielder against weaker teams and as backup for Lamps behind the strikers.

Obviously he's learnt a thing or two from Drogs & ors : today I love my club, tomorrow I want to leave....fickle bar stewards the lot of em and as you say Andy, it all seems to coincide at a time when no one else wants them. Maybe we should run a comp.: predict when Deco next puts out that he wants to leave (again) - maybe Loz et al could get another signed Deco shirt for the winner of the comp.

I am happy with this news. The Premiership is the hardest league in the world to adapt to and should be given one more season.

If Carlo can get the best out of him then we have a world class player on our hands.

If he is happy at the club then i dont see a problem with retaining him for one more season. If it comes to the worse we can always sell him off in january but at the moment i dont see a problem having a player of his experience and class in our squad.

good post, pretty much what i was thinking. and considering we will lose essien and mikel for a few weeks he could be an important squad member.

Who knows what he really said in that interview.. I have always rated him. He was integral part of Porto when they won the CL and very good in Barca. At the beginning of last season he was easily the best player in our squad. He got injured and he felt homesick, LFS was sacked and he felt sour. Quite natural if you ask me.

I thought he would leave and was already in that mindset but after all that Pirlo talk him staying is very sane IMO. Two very similar players and about the same age as well. Again, look at how a great coach can make something out of "deadwood". It happened with Malouda and Drogba immediately when Hiddink arrived. I have a good feeling about Carlo. I'm slowly liking him more and more. Can't wait the start of the season!

Well if he didn't say what was quoted in most of the papers, then i am sure there would be action taken against the papers that reported it.

Deco is a stunted little w*nker, who is better known for his cheating and diving than his footballing ability. The sooner he f*cks off away from the Bridge the happier I'll be, the ugly piece of turd.

Ahhhhhhhhh you must be the stalker he was worried about ?? Hope you have stopped sending him your y fronts and love letters through the post

His footballing ability is undeniably great, but last season he started off well, then took the hump when he wasn't at home warming Scolari's pillows.

Anyway, how much did we pay for him, wasn't it around the 5 million mark? Under Calro, he could come good because he obviously has the vision and creativity. I just fear he might be fine for the first month or so then we're having to re-think the way we play.

Another thing is, we don't really have any youngsters that can play his role and for the money we paid for him (if I'm right about the 5 million) then it's not all bad.

This kinda reminds me a lot of Drogba mouthing off that he wanted away, then we held onto him and he's been great. Hopefully the same can be said of Deco
