The special one flirting with the devil

Our once beloved Jose Mourinho came out today and declared himself interested in taking over the red devils job after fergie eventually gives up and calls it a day.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2009...r-alex-ferguson

Granted this is just on goal.com (sorry i could only post the link im a techno newbie) but it has quotes from Jose declaring his interest as well as a cheeky shot at us.

"Since I left, I became champion again but they have not been champions again. I keep winning and they don't."

What would this mean for man u should they grab jose. My theory for a long time has been that as soon as fergie quits it can only have a negative effect on man u because fergie has bought such stability and consistency to the club. However should they manage to get hold of Jose who has only had success wherever he goes that would really scare me. Would have hoped that Jose wouldnt return to anywhere in England except us in the future but it seems he is still bitter over the way he left his club.

Anyway my point in all of this is what do people think of the possibility of Jose returning to England at Manchester?

Jose's style is defensive. Many of his games were decided from counter-attack play.

I don't think it will satisfy the MU fans. He will not last long there.

they were pretty much my thoughts. plus whoever goes in after old red nose is on a hiding to nothing unless they win the treble. if jose is clever he will wait until fergies immediate successor fails then go in as saviour.

Sorry, but the Mancs have played the whole of the last two seasons playing counter-attack football. The vast majority of their goals came from things like opposition corners and free-kicks near the mancs penalty area and El Tumblo and Rooney tore them apart with very fast counter-attacks

This is the part that got to me. I wish sometimes he would just shut the f**k up and stop saying sh*t like that ?! Jesus !

As for him taking the United job, that's pretty much a given to me. The entities of matching arrogance and ambition would go together well. However, I really don't think he would stick around for too long.

to be honest when he left i thought it was the only job he would return to england for. i would throw citeh into that category now. either way it's not going to be with jose at the helm

Oh, who cares ::clap2:: The longer he's been away, the less I'm interested in what he is doing and saying.

Or is this sacrilege  ?

Once upon a time you could have been lynched for saying that!! I think its alright now though. :D

I believe if he goes there he has a strong possibility of bringing that instant success which he seems to get wherever he goes. They may use him for a short term option whilst some of their ex player manager wannabees are groomed for the position. His arrogance has gotten worse and he really should show a bit of respect to the club that solidified his reputation as a world class manager after his success at Porto. Whilst we have a lot to thank Jose for i believe he owes a lot to our club.

"Since I left, I became champion again but they have not been champions again. I keep winning and they don't."

They missed of a bit. What he actually said was...

"Since I left I became champion again but they have not been champions again. I keep on winning and they don't. Because I managed to find myself a job in a country whose league is going to sh*t and the team I manage is at present effectively unchallenged every season. I keep on buying and they don't"

Youre a legend at Chelsea almost as much as youre a legend in your own head. But piss of now Mourinho, we've moved on and so should you. And you can stop with the cheap shots, they may well come back to haunt you.

Agreed. Outside of our premiership rivals there is probably not a team in Europe I would get more pleasure out of seeing us knock out of the CL than Inter. Turning them over home and away would be special.

No chance in my opinion. They wouldn't want him up there. The club in England that he is most suited to is Liversh*te and if he does come back it will be to there or to Citeh.

Even over Barca? Personally, inter are up there for me, but the first thing on my mind is revenge on those moaning blaugrana girliemen. Not only for personal reasons, but also for the message it would send to the other teams

But I see where you are coming from Loz. I have changed my opinions of Jose alot since he left. A year ago I was all for him doing well in Inter. He just doesnt seem to know when to shut his mouth (shcoker).

And for the record (hardly going out on a limb here) if given the choice tomorrow I would take Guus Hiddink over Jose Mourinho as manager of this club despite the latter's record.

I agree. In fact since Jose's arrival and departure, I think Fergie has adopted some of his tactics!

Manu can win a game any way they like and it's isn't boring, it only became boring under Jose when we were winning every week, not conceding, and a national newspaper put a £25k bounty on the head of the first player to score against us!!! When Van Der Sar broke the clean sheet record last year (or the year before last) it wasn't boring, there was no bounty, and it was lauded from the roof tops as a great acheivement!

Manu win 1-0 it's another win, if we did it, we were lucky and not entertained!

Watch back some of the stuff we played under Jose now, the 3-2 win at Everton, the 4-0 win away to Charlton, the coming back with 10 men at home to beat West Ham and tell me they weren't entertaining!

Gotta be Inter for me too Loz. Seeing the look on his face would be priceless.

Perhaps he would shake the hand of every Chelsea player (like when Utd knocked them out last year), salute the MH stand for singing his name, then walk over to the Inter fans slapping the bottom of his chin (head's up style ala Arsenal away) because his side went out fighting til the final whistle?

Just a guess......but he's been our most sucessful manager ever, and we haven't looked like winning the title since he left have we?

And I think if he did manage to beat us, there would be a couple of digs, but I think he'd show a bit of humility in victory aswell, not perhaps to the directors or board, but deffinately to the supporters and his ex-players.

Win or lose I guarantee Drogba, Lamps and Terry get a handshake or pat on the back!!

I know from his comment's he is a wind up merchant, but some people have sort memories!

::clap2:: Totally agree mate, have always thought that. People saying we 'played the boring Jose way' must have read more papers than they watched matches back then.

::clap2:: :o

Have you forgotten he bought us back to back league titles ? after 50 bloody long years !! won it on the first attempt !! and if not for some very dodgey ref's would have won us the CL as well I reckon...

.. and you also seem to have completely forgotten one of the things we loved about him was he is the biggest wind up merchant in football.. he is just trying to get up someones nose.. probably Ancellotti's or Fergie's even.

Sorry Chelsea Legend through and through his record speaks for it's self.

And inter are my favorite team outside Chelsea as luck would have it having, lived there and been a season ticket holder :) my logic was they played in blue and they were to poor relation to them Red bar stewards !

It makes me laugh, Chelsea TV recently showed the 4-0 Charlton away game, which we 'indoors' call the ''GudJohnson game'', the one touch football played there was fantastic, and looks even better with hindsight, but everything went through Eidur in that withdrawn support role, Robben was exceptional, (funnily enough he wasn't injured).

Chelsea became such a winning force that when we went 1-0 up, you could see the other team just give up, this is the same reason Utd have won the title for the past 3 years running, they haven't deserved it, but the opposition just know they haven't got a chance, and Utd haven't had a decent competitor. Raffa's 'Keegan moment' proved it last term, while we had a caretaker in charge for the 2nd season running!! or run-in!

The results against the big teams are what counted, and under Jose our record was impressive, beating Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal all in finals to win trophies, and nipping all of them to win 2 titles! Wenger has been a nervous wreck since Jose's mind games!!!!

Under Grant we couldn't beat Spurs in a final, lost to Barnsley (was it?) in the FA cup and struggled against Southend under Scolari.

I'm well and truely over the JM departure, but let's face it ,he is right, we haven't won a title since he left, and Liverpool never finished above us while he was here, and he NEVER lost a home game in 90 mins while he was here!!!!! C'mpn people, I know we sacked him, but let's forgive his bitterness for the sweet moments he brought us as a Chelsea fans.

There's not many who have done it before him, (1 in fact if you count the top division) and given the resourses since his departue, there are none who have looked convincing since.

if we don't win another title for 50 years, will those alive remember the Jose years with great fondness or will you tell you son/grandson.......we won the league 2 years running boy, but I was bored sh*tless, and we c*nted his eyes out when we beat Inter? or will you say we won THE TITLE 2 years running, setting all sorts of goals scored, goals conceded records, that still stand to this day?

Losing our 5 year unbeaten home record to Liverpool last season, I wasn't consoled that we were trying to be adverterous and attacking, I just thought we would never have lost that game under Jose, so did everyone walking out the ground........including the players as it turns out!

If we play Inter, win, lose or draw the man has my respect - and always will!!!

Well said andy and bluenut. I think Jose deserves absolute respect for what he did for the club.

Yes, he's a self-centred, mouthy, arrogant man. But his mouthy arrogance won us our first league title in 50 years. Then it won another one the next season.

Then he left, and we have had a succession of nice, friendly non-arrogant managers who've won nothing.

I've got nothing but respect for his achievements at Inter. Obviously the Italian league isn't what it used to be, but you can only play the hand you are dealt. He was hired to win the league, and he did. You can't ask any more of him than that.

Before anyone starts saying anything about the Champions League, my opinion is that winning the Champions League (or any knockout competition) is about 60% skill and about 40% luck. The luck was with him when he won it with Porto, and the luck wasn't with him when he was with us, or with Inter.

I don't think success or failure in the Champions League says very much at all about how good a manager is. I don't think that anyone will argue that Avram Grant is our best ever manager because he got us the closest to winning the Champions League.

If Jose does succeed the red-nosed one, then I will still have the same respect for him, the same way I still respect Zola at West Ham.

Andy, Tom

I have nothing but respect for Jose and what he did for us, like i said the guy is a legend.

I just think a lot of Chelsea fans need to move on from him, even now, approaching two years since his departure - I hate the way the bloke still holds a cloud over our club.

I could do without his snide digs at us though, its all very well us having respect for him, but he needs to show us some too.
