January 19, 201412 yr I disagree. What was the point of Jennifer Lawson's character? Comic relief? She wasn't in on the hustle and was therefore completely superfluous to the storyline. Christian Bale playing a Bronx Jew? Please. Bradley Cooper drooling every time a mafia boss or politician's name was mentioned? Predictable and ham handed. Louis CK was miscast in a serious role. Robert De Niro not being able to tell the difference between a Mexican and an Arab even though he had spent years in the middle east and could speak Arabic? I can go all day.

I question if you actually watched the film. She was a bit of comic relief, yes. But more importantly she had a key role towards the end in unravelling the con itself. Open your eyes and ears next time. I'll admit Louis CK was miscast and Bradley Cooper didn't have the most interesting of parts but they all performed excellently. Regarding your gripe with De Niro; it's a film. And as with every film you should suspend your disbelief. There are a million plot holes in almost every film, if you're sad enough to look for them all.

Lame ending capped it all off. If you have ever seen the picture "The Sting" you will know what a truly perfect caper movie looks like.
January 19, 201412 yr Each to their own I guess, Rami. My review of The Wolf of Wall Street. I would love to see it again! http://www.thewiresayers.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/the-wolf-of-wall-street-review.html
January 19, 201412 yr Thought American hustke was sh*t also. Far too pretentious, too clever for its own good. Slow movong and boring. In the end nothing really happened anyway.

4/10

January 19, 201412 yr The Popeye scene with the quaaludes and the blow was great Yes! I also loved the fact he was also completely tangled up in the phone cord during that scene! Thought American hustke was sh*t also. Far too pretentious, too clever for its own good. Slow movong and boring. In the end nothing really happened anyway.

4/10 The ending wasn't great but i just thought the performances alone held the whole thing together. Edited January 19, 201412 yr by Blueblur
January 21, 201412 yr Just seem The Hobbit. What a load of tosh! Overlong, over-reliant on special effects, lots of staring moodily over mountain edges, towards mountains and inside mountains before. Dramatically. Speaking. With. Lots. Of. Pauses. And fighting while shouting in Elvish. Or it might have been Orcish. And orcs, while frightening are always beaten in fights even though there are about 12 of them and only two elves. And Gandalf leaves the dwarves to it to go and do something inexplicable but very dangerous with another wizard (?) but neither of them seem to use any magic to help. And the 3D glasses were uncomfortable. At least the cinema had red wine!
January 22, 201412 yr Just back from Last Vegas, a bit cheesy but light hearted, I enjoyed it. Not entirely sure what anyone can find attractive in Michael Douglas though, was he 'hot' when he was younger?

January 23, 201412 yr I thought Louis CK was great in AH, although I was disappointed by the movie overall. Just a bit too long and unfocused for me, although I had similar feelings towards SLP.
January 24, 201412 yr I watched Gravity last night ... and wow man..i haven't been both terrified and amazed by a movie in such a long time. The last movie, that probably had the same effect on me, was Jurassic Park. This movie kept me on the edge of my seat throughout its intense moments. At the same time, i was wowed by its stunning visuals, which looked truly spectacular to behold. This film will be remembered for a long time, that's for sure.
January 24, 201412 yr Well, that's three hours of my life I will never get back. Sorry, Blueblur, sorry anyone else who has raved about Wolf of Wall Street. I thought it was self-indulgent crap. I'd rather rent a decent porn movie.

I'd rather rent a decent porn movie. It has had a mixed reception from a few people i know who have seen it. But overall I think it's fantastic. It highlights the ridiculous life Belfort had before things came crashing down. I suggest you read this for a different perspective on it: http://www.empireonline.com/empireblogs/empire-states/post/p1442
January 25, 201412 yr Just back after watching The Wolf of Wallstreet with the girlfriend, thought the movie was great and had some really funny moments in it. Di Caprio brilliant as always, by far my favourite actor. If you like tits, power and rich people doing crazy stuff you will enjoy this movie, 8/10
January 26, 201412 yr I watched The Sweeny on DVD last night, it amazes me how Ray Winstone has made a whole career out of just being himself. Film was fairly enjoyable in a dark, gratuitous violent kind of way, not as good as the original though. 6/10
February 1, 201412 yr 12 Years a SlaveIt was good movie, it had good story telling, good acting, you get involved, you care about characters, not my type of movie though but I still enjoyed.8.7/10 Edited February 1, 201412 yr by babu
