After the (unfair) attacks on J.O.M's ability, mobility and Macalikeability I think it's time to turn the axe on Deco.

In my opinion the Portuguese tongued dwarf is not worth a place in the starting eleven, or on the bench. Already he seems burnt out unable to last more than an hour in even the least demanding games. It was the same last season he started brightly only to fade and in the end kept others, and perhaps better team players, out of the side. As an alternative we have JC returning to fitness, a revitalised Malouda who can do the job and young Gael who is more than capable of replacing tired legs in most games. If it had been up to me we would never have signed Deco in the first place, it's obvious Pep smudged his best before date ahead of placing him in the shop window.

Would it be possible to convince citeh to part with a few million in January - it's worth a go

Never really liked the fellow . I thought he should have left along with Scolari but wont be right to chuck a player in the middle of the season . When does his contract run out ?

Joe Cole should definitely be preferred in big games .

Two incidents from last night stick out for me. The first being the free kick you mentioned where our players were all converging towards the 6 yard box courtesy of Porto defending too deep and he passes to the edge of the 'D' behind everyone allowing them to break away and catch us short at the back.

The other incident is where he had the ball in their penalty area in another promising attack and proceeded to pass the ball all the way back to the centre circle to their centre forward!!

I actually started to think he was trying to throw the game to give his old team a lifeline in finishing top of the group.

The other thread you mentioned about JOM touched on Mikel slowing the game down. I actually think Deco slows it down much more then Mikel and he certainly gives the ball away a lot more plus he gives away an equal amount of free kicks as Mikel.

When Deco arrived at Chelsea I was genuinely excited because of the football I'd seen him play before joining us but sadly for me he has been a bigger let down than even Sheva was. He still has time to redeem himself but I very much doubt he will.

he was shocking last night but to compare him with last season is unfair...he disappeared long before late november 12 months ago!...i would personally prefer to see joe now getting more starts than him, but I do think he's played pretty well this term and shouldn't be dumped completely

I still think that Deco could be better at the top of the diamond then Joe Colel. But of course, I have to admit that Deco is out of form at the moment, and he is already over his peak too. Anyways I still think that he can be a very good player. The question for me is just: Can he find back to his old shape?

What should be mentioned: He has been playing very good for Portugal against Bosnia in the first leg. Unfortunately he was injured after that and did only play a few minutes in the secound leg.

What I dont understand: Why do we have to attack and insult (in that case) our own Chelsea-players after a bad performance? ( I know that Deco didnt play well in the recent games, but still). This threat is probably going to develop like the Mikel-Threat.

Maybe a few years ago but certainly not now.

I remember when Zola was coming to the end of his career with us and Deco was still at Porto and I posted on the old CSR forum to say we should sign him as he looked like just the sort of player to fill the gap left by Zola’s departure. THAT is when we should have signed him, not when we did. He still does show the odd glimpse of brilliance and he comes across very well in post match interviews, but that’s about it!

We now have much better options and I don’t expect him to be selected on Sunday or in any other “big games†come to that.

I think Deco is still a very good player, but he's out of form. And I would not be surprised if we became brilliant at another team and would perhaps come back to haunt us.

Sell him to some portuguese team instead.

He's been out of form for a while now but I would keep him 'till summer. He is an experienced player who will feel and play better come spring. I wouldn't slate him like some here. He's been really good in some games.

At the moment I would definetly play Joey over Deco but I think we still need him in spring.

The problem with Deco is that you never know how he's going to play. Look at him against Sunderland, he completely ripped them apart, and then went on to be utter sh*t until his next good game. We really can't rely on a player that erratic, but then again Joe Cole is hardly notorious for his consistency...

Let's just pray Kakuta lives up to the expectations.

I dont like diving and cheating aswell. But show some respect to a Chelsea player. You cant expect someone to perform for your team if you insult him all the time. And I honestly cant remember Deco cheating a lot since he is at Chelsea.

This thread is turning into another "hate-attack" on a player , without any objective facts.

I don't know how many more f*ckin' times I'm gonna have to explain this, but here goes...

I've hated Deco for many years, ever since his disgraceful display of cheating for Porto in the ECWC Final was so bad it made me feel sorry for Septic - the first and last time that'll ever happen. Then there was his performances for Barca against Chelsea - or have you conveniently forgotten about that?

Deco is one of the world's worst divers, and he's been at it for many years for both clubs and country. I felt physically sick when we signed him, I hate him that much - and that was before he ever pulled on a Chelsea shirt.

I know other Chelsea players dive, as do players at all teams. I really hate it when Joey dives, or Drogba feigns injury, I feel that brings shame on Chelsea. However, Anelka does it less often.

As for 'showing respect for a Chelsea player' - respect has to be earned. I have less respect for him than any other current Chelsea player, or indeed most players in the EPL.

If you want to respect somebody who does what Deco does, then that's your choice, but don't f*ckin' tell me what to do!
