I voted A. Cole, since he played a superb 45 minutes, and it was not his fault that he was subbed at half time. Ballack and Malouda and Anelka were also excellent.

I went with Ashely Cole. Even though he only played a half he was absolutely brilliant and the match was over when he was taken out anyway. Anelka was fantastic as well

anelka for me. ash was brilliant first half, could well have been man of the match if he'd been on the whole game. speaking of which, i heard he was taken off because he had a bit of a knock. hope it's nothing serious.

My stream kept freezing but every time it got going I noticed Ballack, Ash had a massive influence on the game for a defender and I wouldn't say anyone played badly

Anelka looked to be having fun and Ilove to see the game played with that attitude so he gets my Vote.

Between 3 men for me.

A. Cole for a faultless first half....

Malouda for some lethal build up play and crossing, as well as a well taken goal.

Anelka for working hard, and getting his double

(Ballack and Lampard not far off those three)

I will vote Cole, because he was the best in the first half, and we can only judge him on the time he played, which was spectacular.

anelka for me. ash was brilliant first half, could well have been man of the match if he'd been on the whole game.

exactly how I feel...nico deserved it though...he led the line so well, should have got a hat-trick though...in truth most of the players deserve praise...second half defence and cech don;t deserve too many plaudits...how many sh*te goals have we conceded this season? can't complain conceding if a team does something magic, but most of the season it has been real scrappy ugly efforts

Another match that almost demonstrates the need for an all of the above option. I went for Anelka, two goals and the assist for the last goal are enough to put him over the top. But I could have equally given it to Ballack with a goal and an assist, or to Malouda who was also outstanding. Can't give to Ash for only 45 minutes or to Joe because he missed a couple of good chances. Lamps could have also won having scored two and dominated midfield with the German. Amazing how that one less man in central midfield gives them so much more space to move.

Nico for me. Ash a very close second, agreed with stride, had Ash played the whole match then he would've got the MOTM. Nico could've and probably should've had 4 or 5, his shot just after half time was amazing, but for a great save the crossbar AND the post to deny him, and he had it laid on a plate for him quite late on, but he shot it straight at the keeper. So unfortuanate. Ho hum, getting a hat-trick is greedy anyway

Hmm. Some interesting choices so far. I'll be interested to see what happens when those who were there get to vote.

Ashley Cole was superb and Zirkhov played very well after he replaced him.

Ivanovic and Carvalho were both excellent.

Lampard and Ballack were good.

Anelka and Malouda were both really good.

One man stood out head and shoulders above the rest - that was Belletti. He has played his way in to a starting spot for now with todays performance. He brought the ball forward and drove the team as if he was Essien.

was there- belletti, lampard anelka and a.cole were all excellent... had he played 90 I may well have gone for cole, but as he didn't I'd go for lamps... but it's very difficult to choose. malouda and joe both good behind anelka and ballack very good also.

ashley cole's goal was special- the pass, control, composure and finish all first rate.

Hard to pick just one out of that lot. But agree that the entire midfield and the two "wide" players in Cole and Malouda looked great behind Nico. I really liked our passing between the three midfielders, and loved that it freed Lampard to get in on the action much more (scoring wise as opposed to supporting wise). Belletti slipped in with the ease of an eager.... actually better not go there.... let just say Belletti looked like he could have played in that role all season.

Ashley's goal was amazingy good,a nd I really hope anyone that says "Terry can't pass" watches that goal again. I know no one has said that in this thread, but I do remember it being said in the forum before.

I think I'll have to go with Nico, but it could have been one of many.

Although Anelka and Ash were excellent, I went for Ballack as I thought it was his best game for months. It goes to show that he can do it, we just need to see it more often! (Admittedly the opposition were poor, but they were made to be that way by a fantastic performance by the lads)

Only 1 vote for JT ? .....and thats mine.

Thought he had an excellent game, besides the 40+ yard inch perfect pass to set up Ash for his goal, he also put in a superb tackle to break down a Sunderland counter which eventually set up Ballacks goal, he played like our defensive midfielder in a 4-3-3.

I was also there and thought Belletti was really good. He stopped most of the Sunderland´s attacks and was really good in that defensive role. Ballack was good as well but some of the sloppy passes come to mind. But I´m not complaining. Just look at thes scoreline:) Anelka was good and although before the match I thought that going against Sunderland with only one striker, who himself is quite a midfielderish, is not good idea, I was wrong big time. Nelks was brilliant and deserve the MOtM award imo.
