loz Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Between Alex and Ivanovic for me. Opted for Alex as it is to his credit to be able to walk straight inshort of match practice and poaly as well as that.
dkw Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 went for alex as he was superb today, and he really should be first choice alongside JT. but i though ivan played well, nico had a good game other than his finishing and it was mikels best game for a long time.
Ruh Buh Juh Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 You're right, loz, Alex and Ivanovic were immense, Alex shone through though, nothing got past him at all. What a performance.
goose Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Between Alex and Ivanovic for me. Opted for Alex as it is to his credit to be able to walk straight inshort of match practice and poaly as well as that. Same here
Hutch Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 i thought anelka was also excellent and would have been my man of the match if he'd scored. but he didn't so my vote goes to alex.
Alex Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Went for Alex. Mopped up everything at the back. Definatley merits keeping his place ahead of Ricky.
BlueBeard Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 I've gone for Alex too, superb defensive performance.
charierre Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Alex, immense good displays from Ivan, JT and Anelka bar the finishing touch
andy Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 One of the easier decisions of the season Alex all the way
bluevale2 Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Voted Alex as he was immense! Mikel had a good game too, breaking play up and his distribution wasn't bad, he even managed to cut down on the needless-free-kicks-conceded count too. A nod too to Ivan who turned in another one of his usual excellent displays.
wicksy Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Hate to agree with Southgate, but Alex for me. Anelka, Ivanovic, Mikel and JT all excellent too
just Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Either of the centre-halves. JT had possibly his best game of the season and Alex was equally superb. Gonna give it to JT for the goal and also for all the sh*te he's taken over the past few weeks from the media.
bjd Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 (edited) Yep gotta be alex who lets face it , pound for pound, in matches played has been our best defender these past three seasons. Today he can be described in one word: solid. Just what we needed. Good games all round really. Jt , anelka, mikel, Ivan and lets not forget paulo - our best crosser of the ball this season, with both feet. Edited March 7, 2010 by bjd

Glad you mentioned Paulo, his delivery is usually superb and thought today he was solid enough. Cant disagree with anybody , Alex was a ROCK .
paraphil Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Carlo would be foolish to drop Alex from now on, he was easily the best player on the pitch imo, and deserves to start every game. Good displays also from Paulo, JT, Nico and Ivan (as always)
Chippy Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Alex for me and its nice to see JT looking assured again, I am really happy with Paulos performance and after the times I've said (as musch out of hope as belief) that given a run in the team he would do a good job Its good that it does look likely that he still can. anyway back to winning ways, that'll do me.
geezer Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Today Alexplayed like the way Lucio played against us in Milan - he was immense. He really should be ahead of Ricky in the picking order
motorhead Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 voted alex, but it was close with ivan...i didnt realise our man had such a long throw!

Chippy Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 been saying that since Jose started pissing him about in the 05/06 season! Yeah I know that..what I should have said was "as long as some of us have been saying" as I know we are not the only ones who thought Paulo got a bit of a raw deal.
The Machine Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 I voted for Alex as he was very good today, especially when dealing with the attacking threat of Stoke.
Orangutan Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I think Alex has a had a couple dodgy games (can't remember exactly which ones so I could be talking nonsense) this year that have hurt Carlo's opinion of him. This was the Alex today that we so most of last season when he was consistently great. I still remember how when we got beaten badly at Anfield last season Alex was about the only one who looked like he cared. This was that same defender. Great stuff.
Bridgeboy Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Went for JT as that was the performance I was looking for from him and he gave it. The whole tema played a great game and I think we can really move on from here. Well done Chels !
aliboy66 Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Alex for me should be first choice.JT had a better game lets all move on now
